Any R56 Coopers with Duals? Post up pics..

I am interested in putting duals on my new All Black Mini Cooper.. anyone on here done this? Id like to see pics of the system.. Know where it came from or who did it for you.. I am looking to find a system and then have my local muffler man in Columbus Indiana (John Staples Custom Pipes and Mufflers) Who does amazing work do the system for me.. Post up pics of your system and of the tips coming out of the bumper.. I posted in other sections about this.. I mentioned there that i dont mind loosing the spare tire to do this, the car came with runflats anyway..

Thanks

He's talking about something like that. I think he wants it to look like the Clubman S.

yeah i understand the clubman but he is talking about a r56 he would have to mod the bumper for it to look right. im confused why you would go through all of these headaches for something that would not be nearly as good as the factory system.....(in theory)

Bastuck sells exhaust systems and bumper moldings so all he would have to do is the exhaust and change the molding. Wouldn't be that hard actually. Looks pretty cool. I'm probably going to go for the S look.

I think if our Mini's came stock with dual exhausts we'd all want them to be modified to exit in the center. Personally this mod doesn't do a lot for me, ...doesn't really improve the look ...and not sure what the performance gain if any is.

It's a performance upgrade. You can now get burned in two places :D

It's funny, I actually like the MCS look over the clubman S. I'd want double duals on an MCCS

Lower the exhaust pressure to much and you can burn a valve. At least that was an issue back in the day.
Saw a MINI S with a single, large exhaust tip. Didn't care for the look or the sound. Meh.
Now sidewinders.....that may be the ticket.

Just for looks.. I am not looking to get the performance up.. the car is fun to drive because it handles good, if i look for speed i get in my 79 Trans Am (the mini lacks in acceleration comparitavely). I would just like to see a classy dual exhaust Like the Cooper Clubman JCW.. I really think that it would look good, yes it is a personal preference.. I dont want it to be loud.. Just look good.. The kit in the link above is just what i am wanting. Did you say they sell the modified lower valance>?

I'm assuming you need to find a dealer that sells them or you could try contacting them... (there's an english version of the site. click the British flag in the top right corner)

Not a bad idea. I like the look of the clubman exhaust. It doesn't look bad on the hardtop but it would be bad for me as I want the JCW body kit and the M7 rear diffuser's. But hey if you like it hunt the parts down, get it installed, adn post some pictures.

Found a dealer in Illinois that can sell me the kit for 1450... Seems kind of high.. That includes the valance and mounts and the whole deal though..
Any thoughts?

The rear bumper of a Clubman is quite different from an R56, and its valance won't fit without serious modification. You should also take a good look under both cars and see how much modification the exhaust itself will require. You'll probablly do better to have an exhaust custom built.

I understand the aesthetic appeal, but personally I couldn't get past the idea of installing an exhaust that will degrade performance. A straight through design works better for the R56 S engine.

True a straight through system on a charged motor is more efficient but your not gonna burn a valve or degrade performance with a straight through system on an N12 engine. I won't even get started on the backpressure theory.

The parts he is looking to purchase are actually made to fit the R56 Coop not the clubman and it does make it a dual output but still looks like a single pipe down to the rear of the car to beyond the spare tire well.

Although I do not really like the look on the R56

I've always liked that look myself. Thought about doing it to my PT Cruiser ... but as luck would have it, I test-drove a Mini first. Don't think I like it more than the stock S enough to change it out my own Mini, but I think if I saw one in person it'd sure get my attention.

To the OP, I think that setup would look very cool on black, especially with those fat-a$$ tips. If that's what'll float your boat, go for it. And post pics!!

Someone posted a link to an aftermarket kit for Cooper, but the OP was inquiring at a dealer for Clubman parts.

Indeed the kit from the dealer in illinois will fit the R56 cooper without any modification other than changing the cat-muffler pipe.. would probably do that anyway.. The kit is a little pricy though, the dealer wants me to buy it and drive the car there (chicago) and have his photo guy do a full photo shoot with the car.. Thinking thats probably a once in a lifetime deal so im going to jump on it.. Think i may just trim my valance though, the one that company sells that is pre trimmed is 515 by itself.. The kit is from Bastuck.. there are links to cars with this exhaust on Youtube.. the sound is a little raspy but i think they are all using the front pipe without the resonator.. I plan to keep the resonator.. Dont want the rice pipe sound..

I am used to getting exhaust done at a shop.. Paying 200 bucks for 2.5 inch true duals on a corvette is normal for me.. So sticker shock set in pretty hard with all this ... Anyone else think its pricey at like 850 for muffler and brackets and pipes ... ??
