I like the new look better, but the first stripe almost seems to big, if it were me i would have started smaller and gone down in slighty smaller increments

Wow- you really *do* have vinyl laying around! As for the stripe, I lik the first version(right) unless you blackout the the entire scoop for the second version(left). Albiet, I'm not much of a stripes guy to begin with.

Both are original designs and will get some thumbs up from the mini community. follow your instincts!

My original plans were for viper stripes but I wanted them wider than I had seen.

I just thought I would try something different.

It was okay but I was looking for something that was really cool.

Perhaps next try....

I want to thank everyone for their opinions, I love the fact that I can throw it out there and get real opinions...regardless whether they agree or disagree with my own.

i def liked the first ones... original for sure. When you focus all the attention to the scoop it tends to look tacked on IMO

none looks good as well! more my style lol

I like it, but would prefer the entire scoop be black. Of course, have to see it to be sure. I like your imagination.

On the new one, I think it's cool how you integrated the curvature of the scoop into the stripe, and it widens out to help hide the wiper fluid nozzles too. It does feel like the yellow area in the scoop is out of place, though--I think it still might look better if the scoop were completely blacked out.

But as others have said, it's all up to you.

I like the second way. Maybe just add a little more space between the stripes this way it dosent look like a solid mass. Look at the 70-71 Cuda side stripes. They are the same way you are doing it but have a bit more spacing. It's a cool design.

Arent you glad you asked a public forum for our opinions?
We'll have you do it every which way till "we" like it. Just go with the way you like it bro. either way it's a cool nod to the 70's muscle car era. I like it

Also nice!! Regardless of what you decide on stripes, you do have a very nice look going on w/ the color-coded trim pieces!

You should throw some stripes on that car. It looks to plain

In pictures, maybe, but when I see one like this on the lot it looks really great. Pics have a funny way of distorting our perceptions somehow. I've seen MINIs that looked "interesting" in pics but in person looked rediculous. Glad the OP is studying this carefully.

Plain or stripped, it looks good.

I liked version 2 best, but as some who know me, my R56 is very plain.

Now I'm looking to change out my rear window design. It's been on for 2 years, time for an update.

Interesting. Perhaps it should start fading sooner and not go all the way to the windshield? Here is a rough mock-up:

I think this overall design has potential. it just neads a little tweaking here and there. maybe play around with the size of the stripes and the spacing. also the scoop completely black would make a huge difference. You just have to make sure you used hi performance vinyl so it bends. You may need to do a few spots on the scoop in sections because of the shape of it.

Here's my $.02. The stripes on the right have a more understated appearance and actually draw out the nuances of the hood's curves more. I like the decreasing size from the windshield to the scoop, it indicates movement to my eye. The picture from a distance best illustrates this. I don't think you've captured the same sense of movement with the stripes on the left.

I think you were on to something at the start but kind of over-thought it. However, at the end of the day, it IS your car and your decision...

Great looking car either way!!

I do like your stripe-free car. There was one with those colors and the options I wanted on a local lot. I am not allowed to own yellow cars, though. I was reminded of this, then told to go order my car and wait.

The windshield -> scoop fade (right pic) looks the best IMHO. It does have a 70's muscle car/80's sports car feel. The scoop -> windshield fade (left pic) might work, but it does need to fade out earlier, and fade completely before the trailing edge of the hood. I think that might be hard to do, since it's a short hood.

If you want wider stripes because you want more black, have you thought about a blackout hood?
