Second tank almost 33 MPG!
I did not measure the first one but I just burned the second tank in Mr B. and got 32.9 calculated by hand (the computer said 34.5) with chevron 93 in mixed driving (about 38 mph avg) with only 677 miles on the clock. Half way throught the break in I can't wait for it to be over.
I got 32 out of my first tank, 29 out of this one so far (all city driving on this tank) and I'm at 460ish miles. My commute is only 12 miles per day so I'm hoping for some good weather so I can take a road trip somewhere and burn off some of the break-in.
I have gotten a steady 32 mpg since i got the car in March of 07. The one time i got 24mpg the dealer found one of my calipers and frozen up. 2 days later all fixed and back to my 32mpg like clock work.
I just filled up for the first time tonight. 377 miles on the odometer / 12.801 gallons = 29.451mpg. I have a 40 mile commute to/from work so I'll attribute my lower gas mileage to the 91 octane **** gas here in California.
mpg
I regularly get 32 on my S with 3800 miles. I do a combination of smooth highway cruising at 60 - 70mph, nailing it on take-off from stop lights, with some moderate city stop and go traffic. Surely, most of this high mpg is from the highway driving. I don't think I've even gotten less than 30 or more than ~34-ish, but its usually around 32. I am really happy with this!

You probably drive as fast as I do. On my MC I get ~31 mpg between 80-88 mph. The same driving conditions on the MCS loaner I had I was getting 23-24
It depends on your altitude, pedal, wheels etc. Someone in the midwest without many hills is going to get much better mileage than someone who goes up and down frequently.
Oh and 3one3 - you got the cold weather package and you live in tampa?

city driving vs hwy makes a HUGE difference also. city I only get like 26 average. turn on sport mode and drive like I am Mario Andretti and I am down to around 24 or 25 MPG. Lately i've only been doing Hwy driving though and am seeing 34-35.
In the winter I average right around 30, in the summer it's around 32, pretty consistently with about a half-and-half mix of city and highway year 'round. One trip last summer I got 35, averaging 75-80 mph for most of that tankful. I can only imagine what I'd get if I actually tried to behave, which I know in this car just goes against the laws of nature, so I should quit trying to imagine because it will never happen.
Ches, I have found the leaden foot leads to the light wallet.
If I stay out of it, I can do 37mpg on the freeway, moving between 65-75. My best average in 1.5 years has been 34. After the break in period, I average 31-32. A weekend of AutoX school got me a whopping 28.
Overconfidence and a radar detector had allowed my average mpg to hit 29.5-30 until December came. The local law enforcement's interest in tickets as a revenue stream have pushed it back above 32 since then. Lousy recession, it will save me from myself.

for the first 7500 miles I averaged 33.4 mpg thats calculated not OBC.
I now have about 12700 miles and am still getting 32~33 mpg mixed driving using 91 and 93 octane.
Mine is an 08 "S"...................I'M GOOD

speed vs mpg
I notice that the instantaneous mpg seems to be lower in 6th gear at 55 -60 mph than when I'm going 60 - 70 mph? This is driving at a constant speed on level ground. Anyone else notice this? Do you think this is real?
The instantaneous MPG is a function of injector pulse-width. At 55-60mph in 6th gear, you are either at the minimum injector pulse-width limit or the amount of engine load is high (you are applying more open throttle to keep constant engine and vehicle speed). I'll test this out on my way home from work tonight.
