Need Help Removing LH wiper arm on R56

I was planning on installing the OEM MINI alarm myself this Saturday when I am having problems with the first step. I cannot remove the windshield wiper arms. The PDF below, states I need a special BMW puller tool but of course, I do not this tool. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? I tried pulling as hard as I could but it is not moving...

You need to remove the plastic cap and then the bolt. Soak with WD40 for a while, you might be lucky then with your hand and tapping. Dont try to pry, you will damage it. The wiper arm sits on a tapered spline.I purchased a $9 wiper arm puller from the local parts store, and modified it using a shorter bolt(to clear the bonnet). When reinstalling use a little grease on the splines. Good Luck.

A wiper puller is kind of difficult to use on the driver's side wiper. Works just fine on the passenger side. I like to thread the nut on the end of the stud to protect the threads and use a small tac hammer to bang on the stud and pry with my hands at the same time. When you get it off, be sure to put some anti-seize on the tapered stud. This won't be the last time you have that arm off!

I really hope I can manage this. So I can remove this without using Wiper Pulley?

Thanks for the advise... My plastic trims in front are chipping of, need to replace it but wipers are blocking.

That's exactly what I just did and it worked...takes a little patience though. It's also a good idea to wrap a rag around the edge of the hood closest to where you're hammering in case you go astray.

any pics or other pointers? i'm going to the hardaware store monday to get sockets ( so i can remove the cowls for replacement. What else do i pickup while im out? I see the 'puller pulley' suggested, but once i have that, no idea where that'd go! i need a bit of a 'for dummies' instruction list if someone would be so kind. (removeing both arms) thanks!
