Calling all 2009 R56 owners

I have a question for all you 2009 owners. I don't have my owners manual handy, left it at home, but I have a quick question for you experts out there.

Are the windows programmable by key fob? Much like door lock, DRL light function etc is programmable by key fob?

Is the Auto down/up feature a prgrammable option or is it just built in? Does your car just have auto down or both down and up?

As I understand it there are some instances of 07 and 08 MINI's where the windows kind of do their own thing. Is this manifesting itself in the 09 cars as well?

Let's hear it from you 09 owners.

Regards,

Pat

I have had no issues with my windows so far.

I believe the auto up/down is built in and can't be turned off. I know that the windows can be brought down by holding the unlock button on the key fob.

There is no way to roll them up with the fob. Dumb, in my opinion.

There kindof is... just pull the door key out of the fob, put it in the door, then turn and hold it until the windows roll up.
Beats turning the car on, at least.

MakoBimmer, thanks it was a long time coming.

Looks like the 09's are looking promising as far as windows go. Both my wife's car and mine are working fine so far. Love the cars!

We're heading for a drive next month along the Columbia River with the Yakima, Wa. Mini club and then were heading to the Tulip Festival run up in the Everett area as well. It should be a hoot.

Regards,

Pat

True, but I think that if holding the unlock button rolls them down, the lock button should roll them up.

That would make more sense for the panic alarm.
How about this... if holding the unlock rolls them down, why can't it also roll them up if they're already down?

That would work too. But has anyone here ever used the panic alarm on purpose?

There's a panic alarm on the 09 fobs?!? Not fair.

BTW, from what I understand, the window up on lock was decided against as a safety precaution, in case there is anything in the way that can be harmed by it closing without you realizing it. The key, comfort access, and toggle all require direct interaction from you to roll the windows up, whereas the key fob button could, in theory, be set off without you realizing it.

So just another safety thing.

Mine took six months before it glitched (Driver's side window wouldn't dip). Reset by dealer and no problems for the past two months. If they have changed something on the 09s to prevent the glitch, do let me know, because I'll demand mine be fixed permanently.

Yeah, if you have the factory alarm, holding down the lock button will trigger the alarm. Causing everyone around to come running to your assistance. . . but not really.

That's interesting about the window up function and it makes sense. Lots of cars have a safety feature that if the window encounters an obstacle (fingers, etc.) it will auto lower. I guess that means minis don't have that feature. I dare someone to test. . . .

Ah, the alarm. I still wish my tach didn't have the lens for the alarm light... it rattles too much when I've got the bass turned up.

The panic alarm works well and it is very loud. I was impressed with the loudness of the alarm and the horn. I'm glad we bought with the factory alarm system. These little cars have loud horns. I guess so the big bad trucks out there will hear you.

I like it.

But what do you use the panic alarm for?

Good question. I would think it could be used to summon help or at least attentiion if you are getting in your car and someone accosts you. You nedd to find your car in a crowded parking lot and can't see it because of all the big trucks and SUV's.
You just want to make a lot of noise.
You lock yourself out of the house and can't get your wifes attention to let you in because your doorbell dosen't work.

I guess???
