Why do you like your MINI Cooper?

Well, hello if you are reading this post you are wondering where is this going to go. Well i was wondering this morning on the drive here to school, why do some people like me just love their mini cooper so much? The reason why i was wondering it is because i was just prob driving and weaving in and out of traffic on the way here so it was kind of a fun little drive. Yet they are very compact little cars, they are good for tight spaces in the traffic.
I love mine because, it is possibly small and can get in spaces
A quick little car
Fun
Good handling
Great German Engineering
and i could go on but i have to go to my next class you guys here in study hall, lol

I would propose that MINI handling is what sucks most people in...and we equate this w/ fun. We are engaged and connected w/ the car, with what it is doing, and what we are asking it to do as we motor. This little dialogue, I think, builds a kind of relationship w/ the car. So we relate to it, we love it.....and, yes, we even name it. That's my theory anyway.

The connection. It is all about the feel. A pure tactile conversation with the road.
My car doesn't talk, but it speaks.

I like what it says.

True, the MINI might not have the overall grip, or the outright speed, of a simply more capable sports coupe, but it is what it feels like... the ease of driving, that turns me on (psychologically.... or not?) to the MINI.

Besides, who would want to drive a 4,000+ pound car when the MINI is just so much fun to toss around? Then again, I've only driven small cars... old Protege was smaller than the MINI in pounds, and just a few inches longer, but shorter in height!

Because it is one of the only truly small cars that I can actually fit in comfortably, and it fulfills all my needs, such as sport handling, fuel efficient, manual, powerful engine, and overall pleasing to own.

It makes my wallet quite a bit lighter -- my back was really starting to hurt!

Wow, what a question??????

My answer is:
I like the looks of my JCW.
I like the easy getting in & out of the car. (I don't ride in the back seat)
I love the power, Handling & the way it just clicks into gear.
I like the way it rides.
I like the fuel mileage around town.
I love the fuel mileage on the highway.
I love the exhaust note.
I like the rear hatch entry.
I like the fold down rear seats.
I like my low insurance cost.(previous car was a Corvette)
I like the fact that I can't think of anything I don't like about my 2009 JCW.

I like the MINI because as complex as it may be from an engineering standpoint, it is the nicest simple car I could get. I love the visceral feeling I get when I drive it. It also handles a bit better than my VW R32 and gets about twice the mileage.

One day, as I was getting out of my MCS, at a retail establishment, a complete stranger, exiting said establishment, stopped short and exclaimed; "That car has so much PERSONALITY! and you look so great getting out of it!"

Um, yeah... love the quirky personality factor!

see my SIG \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/

WHY oh WHY!?!?!? Be "NORMAL"???

I can think of 2 things to add. First off its a FUN car. Second, you don't see that many on the road and when you do, no two look alike. They are unique.

When I was test driving cars, I was actually at a toss up between a WRX and a R32....then a buddy suggested I drive a MINI. So I did. Well, easy enough, the WRX and R32 completely dominate the MINI in power but ya know what, that MINI test drive made me smile more. That was my selling point. I couldn't stop smiling during the test drive.....I even scared the sales person a wee bit while giggling and hammering into a corner hehehehe.

Now owning a R56, May 2007 build at 43,000+ miles I still smile even when stuck in traffic because as said earlier we're not just commanding a vehicle. We're having a dialogue. This dialogue makes me smile, giggle even a bit.

Thats why I love my Mini.

Yeah - what HE said!!

I like the bond we have - the MINI and i. He has a name (he named himself) but I hardly ever use it. He has as much personality as I do. And that's NOT easy.

Interesting comment, MM, now that I think of it. Yes, it does make us smile...it's quirky, but that's the personality of a MINI. Funny thing is that that personality is consistent with the driving experience out there on the road, so in a sense, pushing that button literally and figuatively starts the whole thing. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but this is what is flashing through my mind...I just never put words to it.

This thread is moving too fast to multi-quote...

Gokartride: I think the "you look good getting out of it" came from a very friendly dyke or I was just too cute or, um, I was getting the overflow-glow of the MINI!!!! anyway, it was HUGE confirmation that the MINI is just too FUN! It just makes people smile, not just the people that own and drive it! OK... it was a liquor store parking lot... she musta been under the influence!

I smile, big, almost all the time I am behind the wheel, but especially, when getting to drive twisties, I smile in a very unique, visceral, connected way, that has no other comparison!

ET AL; I think about throwing *MY* panties! When I get to do a twistie drive! heh... can I have a Woooo - Hoooo?!?!

It's immensely engaging, has tons of character, costs next to nothing to run, and is tremendously responsive.
