Cool penny!

I was looking up mullets online and ran across this gem!

I don't know how to post the pic so I'll just point the link to it. When I first saw this pic I was totally grossed out... and then I noticed the tiny writing and a MINI logo. It was a MINI ad!

Maybe someone knows how to post the pic for viewing. (Please)

Could be worth $2-$5 (or $50 if mint/uncirculated).

WOW, that IS remarkable! WTG!!!

I have a similar story. I used to teach in an old high school that had opened in 1914. We had a levy that got us a new building, so right before we moved to the new high school in 1981, we staff members took a weekend to open all the lockers and search for whatever texts, etc. that had been left after the student body "cleaned" them. We found all kinds of stuff, from the usual small change, old text and library books, pencils, pens, clothing, to even drugs and some other nasty...NASTY stuff, too [fortunately, we WERE wearing gloves, but no one was wearing nose clips!! ]. I was finishing my day's work when I found a locker that had a broken door handle and that could not be opened in a normal manner. I made a tool from a paper clip and was able to slide the lock upwards and open the door to peer inside. It looked empty. but way in the back, under years of dust and crud, was a coin of some sort so I fished it out. It was dusty, filthy and undistinguishable but I WAS able to see it was an old penny. Since I used to collect coins, I was interested in finding the date, so I washed it off...must have lain in there since the building was opened...a relatively new 1909 Indian Head penny!

You're welcome - and don't feel bad about not being able to figure out how to link to it. I think the site hosting the picture blocks hotlinking directly to it. I ended up having to copy it to my Photobucket account and linking to it there.

I only know how to post something in my gallery and then copy into a post. Anyway... still learning.

Nice find, miniguy5! Too bad it wasn't an 1877 Indian Head Cent. I collect coins and am always checking my change for unusual finds. Seems like even "wheaties" (pre-1959 cents) are scarce, much less Indians. Last "rare" coin I found was a 1954 silver quarter (worth about $1).

Of course, the ultimate find in your pocket change would be a 1943 copper penny. Over a billion Lincoln cents were made of zinc-coated-steel that year and appear silver, but the Mint stamped out a handful of copper ones by mistake. Nobody knows exactly how many were made but less than 40 have ever been found. The best ones have sold for more than $100,000. A 16-year boy found one in change and a 14-year old found one in a roll of pennies. Unfortunately, there haven't been any new finds in fifty years but I'm sure there's a few still out there.

I know it isn't worth that much, but how often do you find something that old in your pocket change.........

P.S. I"m not showing my wife the picture of the studly man in fear that she'll find him and have an affair
