New and need help
Hey guys and gals. I am Woody and I just ordered a 2009 Mini Cooper S. I have never done anything but American muscle cars and classics. I opted for this car because I am in Germany and am tired of not being able to park anywhere. The plus side is I think they are cool little cars, and they get great gas milage. So here is my delima, I have read and read yet the more I read the more I realize I don't know anything. I thought I was bad with my Cobra's but man you guys have it BAD
. I would like to know who hands down makes the best, longest lasting, see though for the sunroof portions, Jack Flag for our cars. I want the flag to cover the whole roof, but I still want to see through the sunroofs. I don't even like a sunroof and now I have two on the way lol. But I got them because Germany puts the stop lights right at the stop line. So you have to look directy up to see the light, and god for bid you stop with enough room to actually see the light. So problem solved Mini W/sunroof!
For those who are inevitably going to ask here is what I have ordered and should begin to build next week.
2009 Mini Cooper S
1. Chili Red
2. I opted for Black Cloth seats as I will be going back home to Fayetteville NC after a year and a half. And leather or pleather is not so good in the southeast.
3. Navigation. As much as I would like to play the Alpha male who merely has to see the position of the sun or stars to navigate that just isn't the case with me. Plus the roads here in Germany are super confusing.
4. Mini HIFI. I figured it would be a nice way to spend 13 hours of driving to go chill on the beach in Italy.
5. Comfort Access, yeah I am that lazy!
6. Comfort blue tooth/Ipod/Phone hook up. Again yeah I am that lazy, plus with all the laws about hands free talking on the phone I thought it was a nice opition.
7. Xenon Headlights, well to me they speak for themselves.
8. Center Arm rest, I hate not having one in my BMW here so yeah it's going in the MINI.
9. I opted for the 16" 5 star wheels with all season tires. I did this because it is the law in Germany that you must have all season or better tires during the winter. I will find a nice set of wheels aftermarket wise for the summer. (I would like a deep dish set in the rear so please do make suggestions if you know of any.)
10. Automatic Climate control. Again I am that lazy that I refuse to reach over and turn it down/up when I am cold/hot.
11. Auto Tranny. I opted for this as Stuttgart traffic sucks and I am tired of driving a manual here. Mercedes and Porsche are HQ'ed here plus all thier sub companies who support their plants, so imagine DC X2. I know your thinking but you have the autoban, well it takes me an hour and ten minutes usually to go twenty miles down it in the mornings and afternoons.
That was my initial order and a couple days ago I went back and upgraded to the Premium package and the Convenience packages. So I got the auto windshield wipers and so on. Like I need to tell any of you what is in which package haha. I look forward to any help and suggestions you guys may have.
On a side note I am in the Army so if you responde to something I post and get no answer for weeks at a time please be patient with me as I am not always around to answer them.

Buy the OEM Jack flag from the dealer. It will be under warranty.
You still won't see the traffic light from the sunroof, as there is too much metal between the sunroof and the windshield. Try this: fresnell lens
Works great for me.

Welcome to NAM from Middle Georgia Minis! We like pictures when you get your MINI. Also pics of your collection would be nice. I'm green with envy over the F-100 street rod!! ihoboy is right about the lightinsight. It doesn't cost much and works great. Here's to many trouble free miles and many new adventures along the way.
I dont have one or know anyone who does so I cant say how good they are or how long they last but you an buy them here

My 1989 Mustang LX project car

And I thought I would throw in a picture of myself. Here I am at the Volksfest (same as the Octoberfest but in Stuttgart) I am on the Left in the blue striped shirt.

As previously mentioned, aesthetic creations is great. So is cooperflags.com
If you tell them you want the red on the Union Jack to match your Chili Red, they can make it look closer to your body color. Just a thought. Some people don't care.
