Window automatically stays down :(

Can someone please give me some advice. I have a 2008 mini S. I know the windows automatically go up and down a little when you open/close the doors. But every now and then when I get out of the car and lock it, the driver side window goes down and stays down. Just about an inch. I have to get back in the car and put it up. It's annoying. I feel like there's a setting to change this, and I'm not sure what I do to cause it. Any insight would be appreicated

thanks!

Sounds like a warranty issue to me.

sounds like a window regulator, a very common problem with BMW products. Ive come to expect window issues in the first 10K. if I have none, I will consider it a miracle.

I had a similar problem on my 08 S where my drivers window would not release the 1/4" when you open and close the door, and then I had a hard time getting it to stay in the closed positon. It would open half way until I opened the door, then I could get it to close fully. I took it to my dealer and they had to reset the code on my program. They said that it is a common problem and that the reset usually fixes the problem for good. I tried to reset it per the manual and that didn't work. Make the appointment. Good luck!

Try this. Start the MINI, push the window toggle down and hold it on for a few seconds after the window is full open. Toggle the window up and hold the toggle up for a few seconds longer.
Shut off the MINI and get out. The window regulator should have "relearned" the proper setting.

If it happens when you are outside and locking car; just to prevent having to get back in the car:

Slide the silver button key from the key/fob and use it in the external door lock,
if you hold it in the lock position, it will close the windows (and sunroof) for you.

Convenient Access should do the same with the black button.

I'm not sure it was the car or that I was tripping but I came back from watching a movie and my windows were down 2" on both sides. I hope this was my error!

There has been a few threads on this topic recently. There is a new program from MINI that needs to be updated in your car. If worst comes to worst and the re-program doesn't work, you will get a new and improved motor covered under warranty. That is what I got and the window works like a charm now!!

Beware!! (See thread entitled "Windows rolling down on their own(???) ") This was how things started for me. It happened once on the passenger side and then not again for almost 3 weeks, then again, and again, and I now find myself headed back to the dealer for the 3rd time on Monday in an attempt to repair this electrical storm which now includes windows, sunroof, and door locks....

And I am not the only one.
