What is the DSI button and what does it do??

I have a 2008 MCS with the "famous" sport button and right next to it I have a DSI button. What's the story with this DSI button? Unlike the Sport one the DSI doesn't have a light to let you know when it's activated. I press it but I don't feel anything while driving unlike the Sport button that let's you know right away what it's about.
Thank's Guy's......................Steve!

I thought it was DSC...anyway hold it for a second or so for it to activate. It should light up on the dash. That deactivates the dynamic stability control. Correct me if I'm wrong anybody...

I think you mean DSC which is the Dynamic Stability Control system. See this article for a detailed explanation:

http://www.usautoparts.net/bmw/technology/dsc.htm

To turn it off (if you would really want to) you must hold the button down for several seconds. Then you will get a big warning in the tach instrument panel display which will not go away until you turn it back on. It is always on by default when you start the car. If you turn it off, you can turn it back on by a simple press of the button.

Awww, c'mon leicaguy! Why on earth would anybody read the owner's manual to learn about their MINI? When they can get online and let other people do the work?

You are a "funny" guy leica!! What I meant was the "ASC" button,my bad, the manual doesn't say much about it, not enough. So if you have a better understanding of this I would really appreciate the knowledge.
Don't ever change, I love sarcasm.....Steve!

I'm sorry people, I meant to say the "ASC" button next to the Sport button, the manual doesn't say much about this feature.
Thank's again for any info you can give me.........Steve!

davidbod, sorry I got mixed up a little with these letters, I meant the "ASC" button, not much in the manual about it.
Thank you!

The ASC is your front wheel traction control - that keeps you from spinning the front tires. Activate and deactivate the same way you do DSC.

Does it deactivate when you turn off the car? I don't have DSC.
Thank's MotorMouth!

It is active every time you start the car. Just like DSC you gotta hold the button down a few seconds to turn it off. Will have a warning light if it is off. a quick press turns it back on.

If you don't have DSC, you have ASC. ASC is standard no matter what, while DSC costs extra.
