Plastic Trim around Wheelwell coming off

Hey all,

The plastic trim around the front passenger side wheel well is coming off on my 08 mcs. Whats that all about? anyone else have this problem.

I wanted to drop off my mini at the dealer to get my nav installed with the factory mount and was hoping to get the trim fixed at the same time, but the dealer by my way wanted like 600 for the mount and install. kinda annoyed now.

Whether you get the nav or not the trim should be fixed for free under warranty. and you knew that.

I think manish is saying that the Nav mount and install is $600. There's no way he's paying for the trim. Never heard of the trim coming off, btw, first time I've heard of it.

As for the Nav mount for the Nuvi, it's been done as a DIY here methinks. $600 is pretty steep.

No. Stop picking at it.

Find a diff dealer who will do it cheaper.

Mine is doing the same thing. One of the little plastic clips that slip into the black plastic and pop into the sheet metal broke off. I'm 200 miles from the dealer, so they mailed me the clips and I'm going to try to install myself.

The big problem with a "Mount" is that it provides a clue that a nice portable GPS might be in the glovebox and gets your window smashed.

I only want a GPS for trips out of the area that I am familar with and for me, this usually means in a Rental Car.

Photo below was on the MTTS "Popscycle Pit Stop" at Fairchild Gardens, Miami.

This is a 2002 Garmin GPS 'V' that also uses BlueChart for NOAA Marine Charts as well as CitySelect
and you can load it with a days travel detailed maps (and Routes, Waypoints etc.) from Garmin MapSource PC Program.

You can see the remote antenna cable as well as the lanyard that is held in door jamb.

The vastly improved NUVI (or TomTom)'s would probably be best mounted with a little Velcro
and I would have somthing else to velcro in place when Nuvi was inside glove box.

As for the OP's other topic; never seen any trim coming off and it would be a Warranty,
unless you wanted to take advantage of Minspeed's (or other) Painted Arch Option which exchanges your arches and fastners for new.

My wife's two year old Nephew got his little fingers under the trim piece on the passanger side front and gave it a yank and broke all the little clips. The only thing holding it on was the front one that has the nut on it. I used small wire ties [black] and hooked them in the clip connectors on the trim piece and than pulled them thru on the bonnet side and pulled them tight.
Problem solved and took about ten minutes. Those little clips are hard to hook up anyway.

I should clarify that this was on a 06MCS and I'm not sure if the later model cars hook up the same way.

Thanks all, 600 was for the navi install. I didnt get it stock on purpose cause buying the garmin from Amazon was cheaper and I am too lazy to do the install myself. I put in new speakers years ago in my 91 eclipse and didnt know you needed a special tool to take off the door panel. Anyhow, the rivets broke when I didnt use the special tool and the door panel rattled forever after. So, I've been scarred ever since.

Anyhow, my point was that if I had to drop the car off at the dealer to fix the plastic trim, I wanted to have the dealer put the nav mount in at the same time. There is a dealer that will do it for like 250 with mount included but its like 1.5 hours away. Thats the dilemma.
