Real German License Plates.....

Hello NAM members, I am wondering if anyone would be interested in REAL GERMAN license plates. If people are interested I would sell them on the appropriate forum, what are people paying for the euro fake plates. Why buy a fake when you can have original. Once again, they are available if anyone wants them ASAP, they are from Heidelberg which is a beautiful town in Baden Wurttenberg Germany. Once again these are real plates issued by the German landratsamt
If anyone wants them, I will start selling them on the Verkauf Forum

Do you have pics?

Also, are you able to customize the #'s or are these already pre-set?

Ummm, you can get the ones that are made for souveniers, but taking German issued plates and selling them is illegal. Not sure you really want to go down this road.

Good point, can you explain to me why you think its illegal? The plates are not recirculated in Germany and they do not have the registration stickers. They look like the souveniers accept the old reg sticker is scratched out. Who is going to punish me in America? Oh by the way IS THE HOCK open tommorrow? Thursday..... Hope to see ya out there, Ill be the fast one.

No these are real plates, already made, not souveniers....They do not have the city sticker, or the TUV sticker.

No one in America will fine you; and the Germans will not fine you, they will more likely just arrest you.
Back when you got HK or AD plates, they were not actually real German plates (if you look at the tax stickers, you will see what I mean). That is why you can take them back to the US with you and run them for 30 days.
The plates issued now (HD plates) are state owned. Starting a pseudo business selling them would be viewed much like selling real German passports or any other legal document.

And yes...touristenfahrten is running tomorrow evening.

Hmmm...why do they not have TUV and city attachments?

Nevermind...just saw your edit up a few posts before mine.

I might be out there tomorrow...my son is trying to get me to take the BMW out.

If you euro-delivery a BMW, the car will usually arrive stateside with the tourist plates still attached.
But I would not think of putting my M (Munich) tourist plates on a UK car.
Maybe I am missing something.

Shouldn't MINI owners want UK plates?

I still have a couple sets of UK plates from my cars when I brought them here to Germany. You can get UK plates made up at all kinds of places in the UK...plate restrictions are nothing like here in Germany. As long as the letters are a certain size and the plate is a certain size, you are good to go. You can even have different fonts if you like.

You do have to turn them in...remember the piece of paper you signed saying you understood that you cannot take the KL plates back to the US?

Well settled, I will send them home and offer them out of my garage. These are not my plates, they are selling them down town at a german store as take offs/ I personally have 8 plates from cars I sold. The Germans do not take them back from german registrated autos. Your insight is appreciated however.
PS....how many people do you think have old plates in there garage? Quite a few I could imagine.

I've bought a couple genuine German license plates (Garmisch-Partenkirchen [GAP----], Frankfurt [FRA----] and Munich [M-----]) from E-bay over the years. They even have the little blue or gold registration sticker on them. These pre-date the newer generic European-style plates used today. I also just got a new British plate for my new MINI. Does anyone know if the Brit plates' first characters designate a specific city or region like they do in Germany?

The old ones didn't...the first letter ahead of the numbers was the year of registration (for instance, a P477 CWX would be a 1997). Since 2000, the plates have changed and I believe the first letters are location and the number afterward indicates the year with 50 added being latter part of a year (L03 HJK would be a London car registered in the beginning of '03 whereas L53 HJK would have been registered in the latter half).

About MINI owners wanting UK plates, I would actually want a German plate just to represent the German in my car in reference to BMW. Everyone knows MINI is British so it would be nice to rep Germany too!
