Steer Stoppers.....?

Hey guys need some quick help fast!!! In a few hours I am going to install a set of 18" wheels on my 2008 MCS and i opened one of the boxes this morning that had the wheels and i see this little box....? I had no idea what this is i read the side of the box and it says "STEER STOP" i am guessing that these little rubber boots will prevent me from cutting the wheel to fast and rubbing with my 215/35/18 tire.....?

My question for you guys is what does this do? and how the HECK do I install this any help is much appreciated!!!

Here is what this stuff looks like!!!!

For the past 7 years MINI Accessories has been sorely misinformed by some idiot that thinks running 18" wheels will create any sort of rubbing issue. You won't find any proof you need these because as long as you use factory sizes [or smaller] you will NEVER have a rubbing problem.

Throw those limiters away. I'm dead serious. There is no technical reason for them. Frankly I get a little pissed at these pieces because they only confuse non-technical people and infect the aura with uncertainty. They are the result of stupid people doing stupid things.

Modders [me included] have run MUCH wider and taller tires than factory sizes. While some will cause some issues [mainly from wheel offset or seriously oversized tires], never has rubbing due to full steering lock been one of them [in my experience]. Not only will your 215/35-18's on the factory 18x7 et52 not cause any rubbing, you can lower the car about 1.8" and still not have any rubbing problems.

Ryephile is dead on. I've got that tire/wheel combo with a .5" JCW suspension drop and under the severest of locked wheel cornering have not experienced any rubbing in either direction.

The stock lug bolts will fit just fine. I'm not positive on the center caps; try swapping the caps over from your other wheels [if you have wheels like the Bridge spokes or S-lites]. Hopefully the TPMS fit as well.

What a joy to have you as a resource! I think I'll sign up for the Alliance program knowing you're around!

---->SuperGreg: awww you're making me blush! I've been tuning cars in one way or another all my life so it's no problem for me to help. You'll have to forgive me sometimes though when I get over-excited dispelling myths.

Those look great on your all Astro Black MCS! I bet they look amazing when rolling too. What tires did you go with?

If you want to maintain stock levels of comfort and handling I highly recommend the KW Variant 1 coilovers. If you're looking to up the handling ante and add more sporting ride quality [grandma may not be pleased], I recommend the Cross coilovers.
