New member = New enthusiast!!
Hi everyone!!
I just want to say that this forum is the best. So here's my story. . . It begins one saturday night watching the news and they did a segment about the Mini Takes the States over at Pasadena. So husband and I decided to check it out, since I was thinking of getting a new car.
So we get there and there were minis everywhere!! (of course) The best part was the driving course where you can test drive any mini that you can think of !! The fun part was that they encourage driving fast and they wanted to hear the screeching sound!!! SO the first time I drove the MC i was on the tame side. You know you're not fast enough when all the people in the track kept motioning for you to speed up. The 2nd time around I made sure I didnt disappoint. I think I went back in line about 4 times. It was like Autopia for adults.
So after making the rounds at the booths and test driving cars, we decided to participate in the free barbecue. This is where we met a couple who were the most enthusiastic, mini loving couple we have ever met!! They were great. They basically sold us on getting a mini. But the best reason why we decided to get the mini was the community.
I have never seen a group of people that are so in love with their cars. And I mean that in a good way. I mean i drive a corolla right now and I dont think toyota puts together a "we love corolla owners" gathering. I definitely wanted to be a part of the MINI family.
Long story short, We went to South Bay mini this sunday, put in a $1000 deposit on a car and soon I WILL be a member of the mini family!! I'm so excited, but I know the wait will drive me crazy. MA said it might take 10-12weeks, something about the plant closing for 2 weeks. I ordered a PW MC, with PW roof. Automatic with creme line interior, sports cloth seats, aero kit (i love the painted arches), bluetooth/ipod, front/rear fog lights, white turn signals, auto wipers/headlamps, rear spoiler/lip, and multifunction wheel. I know, everything is all PW, but I'm very minimalistic.
Soon enough I will be an "RN in a MINI" Hehe

Congrats on your order, and welcome to NAM, the MINIverse and everything. Hope time flies by for you till your MINI berths. In the meantime, NAM is one of the coolest places to hang out.

Congrats! NAM's a great place to blow time by as you wait. And be prepared to start second guessing your options, and get frustrated with the waiting period, even though you swear right now that it will never happen to you!

no one (any strangers) bothers to ask me about corolla toyota since i owned it for 10 years.
when i refilled the gasoline into my new mcs or parked it by the cafe, many strangers either asked me or made nice comments to me about mcs then i kept telling them, "i'm deaf".
i assumed they perhaps try to either ask "how many mpg" or make nice comment, "nice car". 
of course, i am proud of mini owner. plus if we travel in small town (non-metro) and happened to see mc or mcs then we exchanged our wave "hi" or "peace" to each other like small world. of course, we don't exchange our wave at the dealers in services.
i bet you will get more attention on your mc from strangers more than corolla.

It's always good to hear of a new MINI owner...
Mine comes next Saturday, and my word of advice to you is this:
Don't ask the dealer when it is scheduled to be at the dealer. I did today and he told me the beginning of next week, and I can't pick it up until Saturday. This will be the longest two weeks of my life!
