antenna removal for '08

Well, I searched, but there were no threads for an '08!
I am going to put a UJ from Cooper Flags on the MCS (if the flag ever gets here) and I need to know how to remove the antenna.
I think you must have to remove the headliner to get to the base attachment, but I have no idea how to do it.
Any ideas?

Why are you removing the antenna to put a roof flag on?

I believe the 2007 and 2008 MC's are the same or extremely similar ..."R56's" Hence why the forums just say "Coupe Talk 2007+"

The flag is all one piece and I only want to have to cut the vinyl as much as I need to to run the wire through...otherwise I would have to cut a huge gap in it. That antenna base is huge!

Yes...I meant to say that I haven't found a DIY for the newer 07 and beyond models.
There was supposed to be one on Mini2 in the UK, but I can't find it there either.
Flag came in today though...looks fantastic! Thanks Cooper Flags!

I watched Mike from Aesthetic Creations take mine off. You don't have to remove the headliner, just pull it down a little to get your hands in there. There are 3 wires to un-plug and I think he had a special socket for the nut (not totally sure if it was a special socket). But by removing the antenna it was a much cleaner install.

That's what I was thinking...just gotta get in there and loosen that nut that is holding it on.
Oh well...this should be fun. First time vinyl application! Let's hope I don't waste a graphic!

I purchased the EOM union Jack, and did the install my self. When I spoke with the folks at the dealership, they were very worried about dropping the headliner, and actually wanted to refuse the work. Since the OEM is not a complete sheet of Vinyl, I only have to cut a hole in one of the red stripes.

See my gallery.
