R56 Best Seats for Big Legs
Best Seats for Big Legs
Hello All,
My wife and I are considering a MCS for our next car.
We went to the local dealer and sat in several 2007 and 2008 cars this past weekend. She fits fine, but the sides of the seats push into the outside of my thighs.
Which Mini seats would be the best for me?
Are there any OEM's that make wider seats that install easily into a MCS?
Thanks in advance for your comments!

I had that problem with the cloth seats. I find the leather/cloth ones to be just a bit wider so it fits my wide back end better. Did you find cars with the various options to try, there's leathette, cloth, cloth/leather and several grades of leather.
Also the standard seats (not sports seats) in the MC have much less bolstering so you might find them more comfortable, but I don't think you can get them on an MCS.

I was hoping I was not the only one with this issue. I am bigger guy at 6'1" 225lb. The seats do get into my thighs. I have the sport seats in leatherette. On long trips I will have to find some sorta cushion or something to fill in the bowl effect of the seats so that the sides do not dig into my legs so much. After about an hour of it I swear my legs fall asleep. It is the only problem with the mini so far.
I am 6'2" 250 and I find the leatherette seats to be some of the most comfortable seats to ride in better than my wifes bmw525 so I think it comes down to how you like to fit in them.

the sports seats have much higher side bolsters that I guess are what is digging into your legs... try the regular cooper. i don't think it's possible to get non-sport seats in an S though.
also try the lounge leather, I've heard they're less "sporty"

If you get the sport seats in the S and you actually want the base seats, you might be able to find someone with a Cooper that would trade you straight-up. Being that the seats are all manual, I would ASSume them to be easily interchangeable.
Hehe, it seems sporty and comfort do not ride hand-in-hand.
But, yes... at the dealer the Cooper seats look much more comfortable for larger people. I'm a scrawny little squirt though... 5' 10" 150lbs. I get a lot of crap from where I work for being "just a kid."
But then... most of the people I work with are 30+
