R56 wats this?
It is 12 volts, but I don't know the watt rating.
It is also useful for the 12v Slime compressors some of us carry with non-runflat tires. Just be careful using this and the cigarette lighter socket near the gear shift lever. They are fragile. I broke the front one pulling an iPod adaptor out of it. MINI of Mountain View fixed it on warranty, but said they wont do it again.
Hold the socket from pulling out with one hand while you pull the plug with the other.
I've taken the rear socket apart when removing the rear panel for Dynamat. They are both fragile. German under-engineering.

Yeah...It charges my daughters Nintendo DS on long trips!! A lifesaver, since the only other one is in the front!!

Ok, I am calling you out on this. Your post title has a misspelling in it and you didn't take the time to read your manual before posting this simple question. Others may disagree, but please show the board a little more respect by using correct grammar and spend the effort to pick up your owners manual before littering the board with these kinds of posts.
I am sorry for the tone, but this kind of stuff really dumb downs the board. Just so you don't feel singled out. I also hate "what color should I get" and other highly subjective questions that are ultimately at the discretion of the poster.
Sorry for the rant.

Chill out, officer.
Please, let's not litter this forum with a back and forth on moclubman's comment. There are going to be people who resent anyone who criticizes someone's grammar, and others who have equally strong feelings about someone's lack of effort in posting. All forums are like that. Let's just understand that there are folks in each camp and let it go. Please?
Wow. I've been enjoying this site for some time now as merely an observer but this has motivated me to make my first post.
Over the last several months I've seen plenty of poor grammar and mis-spellings. Heck, my post may have some of both!
I thought this site was just a bunch of Cooper fans that enjoy talking about their cars. Take it easy!

When someone posts, "I'm calling you out on this," "... this kind of stuff really dumbs down the board," and "I also hate [this and that, which have nothing to do with this thread]," that someone is making a big show of being mean and picking a fight.
I, myself, can be quite the grammar ****, but there are better ways of handling it than being a complete jerk spread over 3 paragraphs like that. And I don't think there's anything wrong with someone else telling them to chill out.
I'd just urge moclubman to take his own advice and "please show the board a little more respect."

I think what he is trying to say is this:
I don't care if you use perfect grammar. Heck, I don't care if you misspell. It is just those posters that use such improper grammar that it becomes difficult to decipher their true meaning.
Goodness... if you want help, make it easy, eh?

Why, that's a high school diploma for one Zachary Allison
What's it doing in the boot?
Oh, right... that's the seal for Shaw Educational Center.
Some kind of practical joke diploma, eh?
Obviously, you are not a smoker.

Not everyone's first language is English. Heck, even different parts of the USA has different dialects like a lot of the rest of the world.
And back to original poster's question, If you have no idea what something is you can't always find it in the manual without flipping through every page and stumbling upon a picture. So ask away. As a teacher once told me "the only dumb question is the one not asked".
