R56 Anybody at Week 33?
Anybody at Week 33?
I placed my order Friday June 6th through BMW/Mini Military Sales Group and received a Week 33 scheduled start date. I have requested a bump on two different occassions without any success. The date to cut off any further changes to my MCS was July 18th. I read where several week 32 posters were informed that a bump could take place into an earlier slot. And this maybe due to a retooling for the 09 production start. Since I believe the new models are set for delivery on a calendar basis, it makes sense that 09 production would probably start in October, with a January rollout.
Hi Gary, I spoke to Ask-Mini rep yesterday and I asked about being bumped up to week 31 (from 32) and was told it was not likely at all - they are busy. I also asked what the last week of production for 2008's are - he said he was showing NO 2008's in production after week 32.. making week 32 the last week. he also said that week 36 would begin the 2009 models. Call ask-mini again and see if you get the same answer.

July 30th is Week 31.
The shipping time varies depending where you are in the country. Luckily here in Westchester NY we are only about 1.5 hours drive from the VDC (port) in New Jersey. I tell my customers that once their cars finish production it usually takes 3-4 weeks to arrrive at my dealership. The voyage overseas from the port in England to NJ is 9 days and then it takes anywhere from 2-5 days for the cars to ship from the VDC. Sometimes if the ships are light the voyage can take an additional couple of days if they have to pickup vehicles from other brands, it happens but it is rare. I know from past experience that the voyage is about twice as long for the west coast dealers as their ships have to travel down through Panama.
To the OP our first allocation for 2009 MINI Coopers and Clubmans (not JCW's or Convertibles) will be built in September with an October delivery date. Traditionally MINI has worked on a calendar year but they are releasing the 2009s early this go around.

Maybe there are a few holdovers and JCW, but weeks 33, 34, and 35 Oxford slows waaaay down for annual vacations and retooling/mtce for week 36 (9/1) production of the first (non-JCW) 2009s.
