Just messin' round tonight planning the next MC, and I noticed that some of my favorite options- the checkered ones, have gone missing...

Uh Oh- have I missed the boat on these by waiting for the 09? I am moving on this as fast as the treasure chest will allow!

Can't find any checkered mirrors, checkered interior mirror, checkered doorhandles, or checkered dash options, which were going to be a dynamite part of my oxygen blue/white MC. I even checked the MCS but no checkers there either.

Perhaps this is a belt-tightening measure or a way to close out the model year by streamlining- what do you folks think (besides your opinions about my checkered mania)?

Really? I'm pretty sure I saw at least the checkered mirrors & doorhandles within the last half-hour / forty-five minutes.

Yeah, they're adding a feature to the 2009 configurator called GOOD TASTE!!!!

One thing that you need to know. Unless they've fixed it, the configurator will allow you to create a config that cannot be built when you go for checkers. Looking at mine, you'll find I tried to do checkers as much as possible. But if you have comfort access, you can't get the checkered door handles. The comfort access adds the button to the door handles and they don't yet (as of about 2 months ago) have those in checkers.

 

Checkered mania is healthy, and it comes in handy during downtime, keeps the mind occupied and all that.

Suitable-size chess pieces have proved elusive. But the hunt continues.

Perhaps a Kingly Knight in shining armor will ride to the rescue, but until then have resolved to ask the Bishop to pray for a successful acquisition and that I don't get rooked. And as long as I am not a Pawn imprisoned in the Castle with the Queen commanding "off with his head" my morale remains.

More hijacking but...

I must say that if you find some good chess pieces, that perhaps have enough space inside for a neodymium magnet, you could provide quite the humorous looks as you drive down the road with an active chess match on your roof. And plenty of bonus geek points.

 

I'd love to try out your suggestion wbarnhill but alas I am in checkmate for it seems that I've been captured by mslatter ...
