Anyone gotten $1K off MSRP lately?

I know some people indicated they were able to get $1k off MSRP a few months ago - how about now with gas prices jumping up? I was offered $500 off MSRP by a local dealer with no added fees and haven't been able to top that yet. How has everyone else's negotiations gone?

Wow $500 off thats preety good, now $1000 thats unheard of. Kinda

With the thread about how BMW has a goose that lays golden eggs, i dont think that BMW would lop off a grand on their golden eggs that are flying off the shelf.

I wish they would though. What i here is that ur doin pretty well if u get floor mats thrwon in.

I was lucky just to pull $500 off MSRP when I ordered mine back in March.... now with the gas crunch and fuel-sipping cars flying off the lot... I don't think I'll be repeating that ever again.

I got $1500.00, in around about way. My dealer doesn't keep the trades on their lots so they go to other dealer to see what to offer. I told them what I wanted for my trade and it was $1500.00 diference so they came off sticker to make the deal. Got mine May 2nd.

I thought I was lucky to get my car for sticker price. I remember asking about price negotiation, and my MA told me there was none.

A friend of mine ordered a car at the end of last year and got 1300 off sticker in the deal. His new baby boy got sick and they where not able to take the car so he had to back out. He went in June and they matched the same offer. I went in mid June and was able to get the same deal. I feel lucky but figured they still came out okay or they would not of made the deal.

Wow to the regional differences!

Overall, inventory nationwide is less than 2 weeks supply. Getting anything off sticker is something to be very happy with. In the bay area, one of the dealers that was at MSRP added a surcharge. While I'm willing to pay sticker (cause of where I live) I'll be damned to pay any more.

Congrats to all you who got something off....

Matt

The problem I keep running into is the greedy bastards want a huge markup on the lease interest rate/money factor on top of the price of the car - even when paying MSRP. I refuse to pay a marked up money factor/acquisition fee unless I'm getting an equally large amount of $$ off MSRP.

For both Minis I've bought...

and 02 S and a Clubman we'll be getting in September, I just called around to get the deal I wanted even if I had to travel to pick the car up. You should do the same. It's just too bad there are so few Minis sold in the US that this kind of message doesn't really hit the offending dealer in the pocketbook. There's always someone else who values convenience over money...

I've talked to bmw sf, and bmw mountain view, they both want 2-2.5K markup which is a bunch of bull.

I'm still waiting for a reply from east bay mini and see if it's the same case. Is this same case for south cal mini dealers? I don't mind ordering from outside my area, I just hate to pay over sticker.

Try Mini of Murray

outside Salt Lake City... That's where I bought my 02. I heard Concord Mini just started a markup.... cause the other bay area places are doing it. Mini of the Hamptons used to say they'd sell at MSRP with $500 shipping to anywhere in the US...

Back in April I got $1000 off MSRP along with floor mats,2 very nice key chains,a blue overnight bag and an umbrella but then they had a large inventory.Today there are only tumbleweeds rolling in the lots between the few cars remaining due to the very high demand.I did shop around the MINI dealerships in my local area and some were asking ADM over MSRP or had dealer add-ons like LoJack, custom painted pinstripes and so on.

I am sure once the '09's start arriving the dealer's stock will be replenished like every year. Now getting anything off MSRP of the '09's might be a different story due to the very strong demand.

You'll sometimes hear of discounts, even in this climate. There are special circumstance that might warrant it, including:

1) Dealer needs to make the 400th sale for the month to break the regional record and score a huge bonus, and the guy in front of you is customer 399.
2) You're getting raped on your trade-in.
3) This is your seventy-fifth MINI purchase from the same dealer in four weeks, so they know you'll be back. (you know who you are...)
4) Your last name is Issigonis.
5) We don't do this for everyone, but, because we like you, we'll do it for you (rephrased #2)
6) Wow, I've never seen a two-digit FICO before, but, don't worry, we'll work something out.

There are others...

My dealer said delivery time of anything other than a JCW would be at least 6 months. With that sort of shortage, I'm pretty sure I'll have to pay MSRP.

One thing to note, however. He said they had dealers from out west calling to see if they could buy stuff off the lot at sticker price! You guys out in CA must be getting raped.

MINIOFPITTSBURGH.com, aka P&W Foreign cars gave me $500.00 off, free stripes of my choice and free floor mats of my choice. MCS are so popular right now, good luck getting anything off at all right now!

This is basically the deal I'm looking for if I can get the base money factor and acquisition fee.....I've gotten some good responses from several dealers. I just emailed every dealer on the east coast above Atlanta. Some basically told me no chance in hell off MSRP, and some said they'd like to try to work something out, so we'll see how it goes. Mini of Annapolis agreed to $500 off, but they wanted to bump the money factor up to .00282 with a 740 credit score, which I don't have (currently sitting at 715). Now I'm reading JCW reviews and getting an itch though...

MINI of San Antonio flat up said, "MSRP... or nothing."

Ah, well. I'm not driving more hours on top of the two hours it took to get to the dealership. It was the best car in it's price range when the accomodations I was looking for. Married and no planned children. The wife can't stand 'em!

I've found that if you call them, they'll say MSRP, but if you email them, they'll bring the price down. Funny how that works.
