Aero Kit

Hey guys, I'm a rookie to this forum and a newly converted mini enthusiast! My current cars are a 2006 H2 SUT and a 2005 Scion XB. I never thought I would be so crazy over a car like the mini but here I am chomping at the bits to get one!

I'm in the process of trying to sell my Hummer H2 due to bad GM quality(entire bottom of vehicle is rusted!!! ) I have never taken it off road and it is garage kept in a temperature controlled environment and yet it is rusting!!

I'm going to wait until the 2009 build and get a MCS dark silver with all the fixins! I was thinking about getting the aero kit but not sure since I have not seen anyone on this forum have the regular aero kit installed. If you do have the regular aero kit(not the JCW kit) PLEASE POST PICS AND YOU OPINION! Thanks in advance fellow mini lovers!

Here is my aero kit with painted arches. It is sitting on H&R springs so it looks a bit different.

check my gallery for pics. I personally didn't like the black grill in the front and rear bumpers which is why opted for the aero kit. that and i prefer the look of the aero kit over the stock bumper as well

they don't on the JCW aero kit,
I believe they do on the Mini aero kit.

(w/ the JCW kit you also get JCW door sills)

Actually...

The wheel arches are not painted on either the factory aero kit (the one you are interested in) or the JCW aero kit.

However, the unpainted wheel arches on the JCW kit are far less bothersome as the kit incorporates the black plastic cladding on all parts of the kit for a seamless wheel arch, whereas the factory aero kit looks less appealing as the plastic cladding is not continued on the front/back/side skirts, therefor the wheel arches are rather intrusive in my opinion.

Mellowmsc invited everyone to check out his gallery, and he has the factory aero kit installed; no modifications - what you see is what you get. However, don't be confused by MiniManiac74's blue mini, it also has the factory aero kit, however he has gone a step beyond and painted the wheel arches after installation which is not included.

And finally, just for comparisons sake, I did a quick google search and here is a link to two mini's, the red one has the JCW kit installed and you can clearly see the continuation of the black plastic cladding. The blue one is stock. Check the image out here.

Actually...

You're wrong. The factory aero kit now comes with painted arches from the factory, the JCW aero kit does not.

What I don't know is whether certain specs for Canadien-delivery cars are different from those for the U.S. market. So, it's possible that, in respect to painted/unpainted wheel arches, you're right about cars built for Canada. What I do know is that, in a couple of threads here in the last month or so, it's been firmly established that wheel arches are now painted with the factory aero kit for U.S.-bound cars (and I believe, for European delivery, also). A quick search in the general forum, as well as in the "Interior/Exterior" forum, would bring all that information to light. If you know something all those other people don't, please share.

My brother's Clubman S just came in today, Pepper White with factory aero kit. I was surprised that the arches are NOT painted. We both thought they would be.

Possibly are they painted on the coupes and not clubmans?
Has anyone ordered a MCS recently with the factory kit and can 100% confirm?

here is my DS/B 2007 factory areo kit aka "hypersport pkg" with aftermarket painted fenders with the stock crown spoke rims on Mach V lowering springs.

I cant say either way if your '09 will have factory painted arches. (I secretly am hoping they are not so the look will stay rare, no offense/nothing personal)
