Itching for the NEED FOR SPEED... I DID IT!
I have just recieved my AB/AB MCS 2008 I have put bout 180 miles on it and read a few posts as well as the users manual about the "BREAK IN PERIOD" of 1200 miles
and today there was a honda accord that pulled up next to me and started reving the vtech and I just had to do it, I was doing bout 30mph ........ I pressed the sport button and just blasted into the open road..... did bout 80mph
in a heart beat!!
Know what i am asking is A. can we use the sport button during the break in period???
and B. what could happen if i don't obey the break in period..... I don't know if I could last till 1200 miles, of driving like miss daisy!!!
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Besides...1,200 miles goes by faster than you might think!
well if you have a manual you can glaze over you clutch if you beat on it, but yet again if you have the warranty it should be covered.
there is actually a school of thought that believes in the hard break in so depending on what you believe you're engine should be fine, your clutch is the only thing that could wear out quicker than it normally would with a calm break in period.

(Discussing street racing is against the rules here.)
The requirements for the break-in period are to keep it under 4,500 rpm, and below 90 mph. Unless you have an automatic transmission, the Sport Button doesn't matter. I suspect you broke the rpm part.
There is some debate here about whether the dealer can tell from the onboard computer, or the fob what your max rpm was, and when. If so, there is a possibility that violating the break-in could void warranty. However, no one has report here (that I've seen) of this happening.

I did that once from a stoplight. The guy was in my rv mirror right away, then I turned right at the next light, he goes straight. At the next light there he is again asking for more! I just grin and said "you're done". True confessions of a Mini novice.
