MCS R56 Model Year 2009

Hi everybody
anyone knows updated news abot MCS MY 2009? When will it go in production? In august like previous models? Reading through the forum I've seen also late september :-(
Looking at MCS convertible photos (without fake plastic covers) it seems to me that the bonnet scoop is larger than the current version, don't you think? I hope it will be more heat resistant than the one continuosly melting on MY 2007&2008...
Bye

That may be in the states. Mexico announced the '09s about a month ago, and they started delivering about a week ago. You have to take into consideration the over-stocking of new cars by dealers, that sometimes pushes the new models back a little.

IIRC the mid-cycle refresh for the Mini isn't due until the 2010 m.y. That would be the logical time for some of the mild hybrid tech that is in the euro cars to be integrated across the board. Until then, I wouldn't expect any major changes in 2009, save for some tweaks in ICE support for the new iPhone and maybe a couple of paint codes.

I would expect to see a Mini 50th anniversary model in 2009. It would be a shame if they let that opportunity slip by.

Nothing is known yet, but dont expect huge changes, just some minor tweaks to packages and maybe a miniscule base price or dest charge increase. It all depends on the dollar.

And the first 2009s are slated to begin production in early Sept.

I wish they made changes in the Pck... The convinience pck is like packaged with everything that I would want minus 2-3 items... but adding seperately would end up costing more.. lol And the armrest... im 6'0 190 lbs guy.... trying to fit stuff inside the arm rest is ridiculous... lol SO i didnt get it... euro storage arm rest looks more attractive for me.

I'm very curious about this subject because I'm expecting to order my MINI this Thursday, July 17th. I'd like an '09 but there seems to be a lot of conflicting information as to what MY I'll be getting. Given the production/delivery timeframe, I'll be getting the car in mid- to late-September, well within the ordinary timeframe of when other new makes are hitting the showrooms.

And I'm a little suspicious of what the MAs say; they want to push product NOW. Waiting only gives potential buyers a chance to consider alternatives. Telling them the next year's model won't be available until later this year squashes any notion of delaying a purchase.

Can anyone here tell me for sure what MY I'll be ordering?

For now it all depends on your dealership and if they have already used up their production slots for 08.

If you hold out for an 09, your car may be worth an extra $1000 at resale time, but I have a feeling the price increases from 08-09 may well be as high as $1500.

And just based on some other comments I've seen here from Northern Cal... the MA's could care less if you buy the car or not. They are all sold out and are charging sizable markups on the cars. I don't think MINI dealers in general are going to try to push you into anything. They know the next person that walks in will buy the car (or production slot) if you don't.

Thanks, Pretzel Logic. I appreciate your feedback, and you made a good point.

Resale is important to me, but I wouldn't let it keep me from placing the order. It was just one of the factors I was considering. I notoriously trade out of cars, but I'm hoping this time it will be different. The MINI is unlike ANY car I've ever driven, and I doubt I'll tire of it very quickly!

No worries. From what I understand, week 35 or 36 will be the official first full week of all 09 production. That would be the first week of September (production) and October (delivery).

Check some of the mark-up threads on here. From what I have seen, most SF area dealers are charging at least $1000 in markups, if not more. However, there are solutions, and people have bought the cars at MSRP or at least with only mandatory floormats.

Good luck

Big changes on mini website as of today. As of today, you can build your 2009 coupe right now online - so they must be available soon.convertible doesn't seem to be there yet.
