All Day Cleaning and WoW!

So I spent alll day cleaning my MINI. It desperatly needed it. Its been allmost a year old July 24th .

Well I wash like 2x a week but needed a waxing etc.

So I went and spent some dough on Meguiars Car care products. Got the Clay kit and them some Polish and Wax. It looks awesom and smooth as glass.

The Claying really helped get it nice and clean. I wa suprised how easy it was. Look at the shine

The sun's reflection off your MINI is blinding. And the picture-perfect reflection in your roof -- wow, awesome.

Yep, if you really want to get the best detailing results, claying is a MUST.

Looks great... nice job !!

And everyone take notice of the shot used to show the best reflection. This is why JET BLACK rules !!!

wbarnhill its really easy as pie. Ive never done it and wanted to do it right so I went ahead and paid like $17.00 for the Meguiars clay kit and you get everything you need.

All you do is wash your car good first. Then take the clay kneed it a little then spray the area with the included spray (quick detailer), its like a lubricant and keeps the clay from sticking to the paint, just use your hand and rub on the paint making sure you keep the area wet. Then wipe the area clean with the included microfiber towel and move on to the next area. And keep folding the clay so you have a clean piece. Youll see the white clay attach all the contaminates and your paint will immediatly be as smooth as glass, you get instant results which is amzing. BUT Be SURE to continue to finish with polish then wax because youll have bare paint and you dont want that. You want to immediatly protect the "base" you just created. Done clay and then give up and a few days later polish then wax.

It didnt take long at all about 30 min to clay the entire car (my first time ). If your like me, usually keep my car washed, every week it shouldnt be that hard. But if you want to wax and have a really good results these are the steps to follow. Meguires has really good advice on theire site. Video of Claying http://www.meguiars.com/video/index_...h%20Clay%20Kit

Wash the car well.
Then Clay the entire car so you have an extremly clean
"base" to work with. You dont want to wax over dirt and debris. :(

Then Polish, Polish you say? It make's the car shiny and have a nice wet look before you apply wax so it looks very shiny. Just wipe the polish on then immediatly wipe off with microfiber. Once you do the entire car you can move onto waxing.
Then Wax, let it dry, wipe off and you will have a smooth as glass finish and a really well protected car. If you pre-treat your black wheel trim etc with Mothers back to Black (what I used) or Black WOW the wax will be lss likely to stick to the trim and youll feel better about waxing.

Keep it up with spray wax after each wash and your golden. Only clay 1-2 time per year maybe less depending on how you keep your car because you dont want to take off the clearcoat.

I used meguires Deep Crystal Polish then followed by Meguires Deep Crystal Carnuba Wax, they are like 5-6 bucks each bottle.

But once you do that youll have great results and acid rain and bird droppings wll less likely impact your paint. And you just feel good when your car is clean. Im not a huge detailer and i just read up on Meguires website and I achived great results and I think you can too! From now on I think I'm going to be a detail fanatic

Great job Kevin. I also always feared claying and then I attended a detail day put on by a local mini guy. It's the only way to go prior to waxing and it is very easy to do.

I am a huge fan of the Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax. It gives a great shine, comes off the black parts without problem, beads water like an otter's ***, and lasts for months. Good stuff, for those of us who don't like to wash their cars very often.

Kevin, You should really be very proud of yourself for having detailed your car. The satisfaction quotient is huge. Anyone can go and have the car detailed and not realize the pleasure of doing it yourself. My friends tell me that I'm a nut for taking such good care of my car. My answer to them is that this is my quiet time and also bonding with my Baby. Kevin, take a bow, you have earned it.

nice

Ya, looks really good, we do the same thing to our cr/b and it looks heart stopping after every wash now. Takes a long time, but if you live in the northwest suburbs of chicago, pm me, il do it, ive done my neighbors and relatives, really makes the cars stand out. A good hand polish and wax will make it look better than it did on the showroom.
