Phenomenal delivery experience, Astro is home!
Hendrick/Charlotte. Got the email/call Saturday from a very surprised MA that Astro arrived unexpectedly! I did not sleep much Sat/Sun night. We all expected delivery 7/7, not 6/28! Four weeks from order.
They parked it in back. I asked them NOT to detail it (lessens chances of swirls). They agreed.
Tech was in early this morning. Add-ons were installed (Boot storage box, black Mini mats front/rear, checkered valve stem caps, wheel locks, mud flaps.
Got there at the appointed hour, 2pm, busted butt all morning to get things calm at the office, got to the dealer at 2, and was on the road in about an hour.
Asked them to set up the programming for the triple blink, no DRLs, a few other things, and that was it. They had the iPod cable ready, all the books, papers, etc. Got two really nice Mini key chains too, along with a Mini umbrella. MA went over anything I had questions on, paired my Moto phone, got my iPod working, etc. Full tank, of course.
On the way back to the office I passed a Mellow Yellow going the other way and waved, but failed to get a response.
Back to office for the finish, home around 6pm. Spent the last FIVE hours detailing Astro.
Of course, cosmoline is still on there, grease in a few spots, goo, etc. I did not mind a bit. Carefully washed with dawn liquid to get any coatings off, then used a very gentle paint cleaner (P21S) to hit a few spots that showed some light film, goo, cosmoline, etc. Went over the beast slowly and methodically. Washed again. Wipe down to spotless finish.
Then spent 2 hours coating every part of the exterior with Rejex. Been using this since the '04 C4S Cab and love it. When your paint is new, and untouched, and in perfect shape, this stuff just does the trick. We've carried it ever since. Makes your paint very slippery/slick, so when you wash it, most of the crud just hoses off.
Covered each panel slowly and in linear fashion (no swirls), then removed with microfiber. Coated the glass as well. The white roof looks like snow. Absolutely stunning. Got it all done, finished with a light wipe down of speed shine (Griot) and wiped it all up. Even Rejex'd the wheels (crowners).
Got the V-1 installed after a few nervous moments. Easy run down the a-pillar to the fuse panel but these cars have so much plastic it was really tough to find a ground connection! Tapped the PDC fuse easily, and ran the ground to the open right side of glove box (torx screw there). V1 is left of rearview mirror. Not where I'd normally put it (I prefer right of rearview), but the windshield angles out so far it will work best there.
Will try to post pics tomorrow. Too damn tired now. But what a phenomenal day. Everything I expected, and more, and so much fun to boot!

Wow, you've been busy! I'll have to remember the non-detail recommendation (I hate swirls too). BTW, sometimes I use S100 from the speedway Harley Store just cause I can get it locally (it's made by the P21S folks). Rejex is good stuff!
congratulations!!! if you are half as excited as i was when i got mine ( and i think you are at least that) it must have been a great day!!
Happy motoring!!!!!
