Bonnet vs racing stripes

It seems like bonnett stripes are much more popular than racing stripes, and I was wondering why that is? I feel like racing stripes look better, and was curious what you all thought? Besides placement are there any other differences in price, or material, etc that make people go for the bonnett?

Bonnet stripes are very traditional to the Mini and have carried over to the MINI.

Here Here ! Yes, I dig the traditional look.

I must say though, they all look great, to each their own. I had the same conversation at the dealership before the papers were signed.....Original.

Yes. At $85 you may be missing something. In the configuration tool a message pops up on I believe the 5th tab that says these options do not include labor as they are installed by the dealer.

I think each dealer sets their own price. I also think the price may vary depending on when / where it is done as some options can be done at the VDC.

Sport stripes! Mine are $190 ($85 for the stripes, $85 for installation).

But look at your car in the configurator both ways. Get what you like best. Some cars look their best with no stripes at all. There are also lots of aftermarket options available.

And for those who might be interested, there is some discussion of the history of the bonnet stripes in this thread.

yea for some reason my dealer is charging a total of 600 for the stripes including installation. thats BS. i dont think im going thru with it anymore. i originally wanted to sport stripes because they are pretty unique. but i think
about it and i see more people with stripes than without. so going with the
clean look won't be too bad of a look for me.
in the end....to each his own!
motor on my friends.

I debated at first, but finally decided to do the sport stripes from front to back.

I think one of the reasons bonnet stripes are so popular is that they are included in the sport package. At least they were included when I ordered mine--haven't played with their configurator since then.

nah, that's just you , althooough....white racing stripes look better than black, imo and don't give off quite the same mustache look (if at all).

Still, racing stripes are more cohesive than bonnet stripes unless you get the boot stripe to match the bonnet. Whoever heard of racing stripes on the bonnet only?

I like bonnet stripes better, and its why I got them. I think maybe because they are more original to Mini, and follow the specific lines of the car. You see racing stripes on a lot of other cars, ie. Mustangs, Chargers, hell many places call them Viper stripes, because they are straight and can follow the lines of any car. I also think the sports stripes only look good when they go the length of the car bonnet-roof-boot, they have to keep their line, and once you get the sunroof does not look right. The bonnet stripes look great just on the bonnet because their line does not follow on to the roof and beyond.

I'm a fan of all options, my MCS has none, it's all Jet Black and IMHO, dosen't need 'em.
My sons BRG Cooper has white roof with bonnet stripes and boot stripes set wider apart to go with the bonnet.
My Classic is going to have (Painted on) sport stripes on the bonnet and boot to match the Pearl White roof. Then I'll add some ghost checkers into the stripes in the next step...
