Key fob activates Wal-Mart inventory control alarm

As a new Mini owner, I have found that the key fob sets off the inventory control alarm when I enter and leave my local Wal-Mart. I feel guilty since the poor employee guarding the door has to log every incident where the alarm goes off. Has anyone else experienced this?

oh yeah, the metal in my husbands hand sets them all off! I feel for ya. The funny thing is, we've only been stopped in one store.

That's interesting - the inventory control systems work using an RFID-type emitter (which the MINI fob has, but your husband's medical hardware shouldn't).

I have about a dozen screws and a 15" titanium rod in my leg, and while I've had issues with airport security, I've never set off any inventory-control systems.

I prefer to frequent businesses that treat their employees as I'd want to be treated -- even when it costs me more -- so I avoid Wal Mart. I go to Costco instead. +4

I thought my Acura one did the same thing, but it turned out that if you buy any pants/jeans from Old Navy, they sew the tags into the pants/jeans and you have to actually have to cut them out.
Take a look

I think I make it +6. I've sworn off Walmart. Worst service int he world. I would rather go to Target and pay a little more.

I've been to WallyMart twice since picking up my Mini. The key fob hasn't activated any alarms.

Walmart is our only choice sadly. But I sure do love being treated like a criminal!
