Real world MC Mileage - Highway @ 80 mph?

I know there are lots of posts regarding the mileage but most of them talk about 45% city 55% hwy etc....

Just curious what I should hit when I travel to work daily at 80 mph all highway driving?

Thanks!

If you're going 80mph then you're bound to "hit" a lot of things.

Not to be off-topic here, but just because you CAN do 80 mph in your car doesn't mean you should. It's not safe to do on a highway with a lot of variables that are not under your control, IMHO.

I get 46 mpg going 60-65 mph. I generally don't ever drive 80 although I hear there are many places where folks do.

The left lane of the highway tends to cruise at 80 mph (which I guess really is 72 mph after 10% speedo correction) in many parts of the states.

Here I am to finally answer your question! Thank you, thank you. I ran 80 on the way home from the dealership for about 2 hours. Some stop and go. I averaged 32 on my S and the Wife in her clubman was about the same.

Aren't you glad i replied!?!?

Returning from the Dragon this year and I picked up 4 MINI's from Mid-Ohio running about 80 and I fell in line . We ran about that speed for two and half hours up I-75 and I was getting 33.5 (hand figured, my dash said 34.5). I was very impressed .

I also want to thank the guys from Mid-Ohio they made the trip easy.

Thank you as well. I'm hoping I can reach ~32-33 mpg at 80 mph with the MC (the only reason I did not purchase the MCS)

Not Quite 80 ... Real Close to 73ish

Couple of weekends ago went on the annual "Whiskey Run" from Huntsville AL to Lynchburg TN ... according to GPS, traveled 555 miles, moving average of 59.7 mph ... calculated right at 35 mpg ... lots of 3rd and 4th gear at or near 4000 rpm ...

I average 34.5 mpg. My commute is 98% freeway and I constantly go about 80 [if not faster].

Just made a run down to San Antonio from DFW this weekend in the 2006 MCS. On the way back, I probably averaged high 70's/low 80's Peaked out (as far as I saw) at about 95. Got 27.3 mpg. Wondering if I need to be checking things out as this seems low to us.

Since your from toronto you know very well that Traffic moves faster then 80 most of the time. If you drive to Montreal from the Tdot or the Buffalo the left lane is always trying to go 130~140 km/h.

My drive up the 404 to work feels like gumball rally somtimes

I commute on interstates every day. @ 70 miles each way. 20 miles are side back roads the rest is 70 - 85 fast lane traffic (i.e. thats the speed required to stay with traffic). Normally there are a few bumper to bumper spots...

I have an '08 MCS with the stage 1 JCW kit. I average 32MPG on the commute.

I drive 80 miles a day, highway the whole way. My average speed is probably 75 mph. I average 32.6. That is over five months.

In NH here, I have a rural rout of 10 miles to the highway with 2 stops.
Then traffic flows between 70 to 90MPH for the next 30 miles with a bit of stop and go for the final 5 miles:
My 08 MC is getting 41.5 average. The OBC reads 43.5 MPG.

Wow. That would be amazing. I won't know until sometime in July when the car gets here!

I was hoping for mid 30 MPGs.
The dealer told me that I could get 40, but I didn't think I would get that on the first tank!
I keep the revs over 2K to 3K range with a few hot laps with the sport button on.
I got the 175/65R-15 tires because of the potholes and ice heaves; the small contact patch might be helping the MPG IMHO.

I get more than 32 MPG in an MC with 100% city driving. So that's the bare minimum.
