is that correct? in the mini books there seems to be a chrome ring around the door speakers but on my car with the chromeline interior it seems to be missing....

 

It had better be around Molly's Speakers when I pick her up or she won't be coming home until they are there. The MINIs with the Chromeline Interior had chrome rings around the speakers too!!

 

It depends on your interior trim. On a Cooper, you only get rings on the doors if you have "extended decor rings", which comes when you get one of the upgraded dash trims (piano black, brushed alloy, english oak, etc.)

 

I have a Clubman, and I have the chromeline trim and the fluid silver upgrade, and I have no chrome trim rings on my speakers, although the build site shows them in the interior illustration. I guess I'll ask my MA about it when I go in for a service visit. There are shiny black rings on the speakers, I guess they would be popped off and the chrome rings added.If the MA can't figure this one out I'll check a few cars on the lot.

 

Exact same thing with my R56 S with piano black trim. Shiny black rings on the speakers, exact match to the piano black, so I didn't think too much of it. Checked just a few other MINIs on the lot and none of them had chrome around the speakers either.

 

I hadn't noticed one way or another until I read this thread. However, it does clearly show chrome rings on the MINIUSA build site when you add the chrome line trim option.

 

Ahhh...well then Molly will be just fine. She is coming with Fluid Silver Interior Surface.

 

Does anyone know if the chrome line interior can be added later? I bought mine off the lot and it does not have it...want it badly

 

RJ - Don't be too sure, no one who's responeded so far has the chrome trim rings on the front speakers, and the responses over on the Clubman forum are the same, no chrome trim rings on the front speakers. ...Anyone else have them?

I'd love to do the upgrade to chromeline interior as well. Not so much worried about the speakers but definately would like to cover the air vents etc.

 

Just to chime in, I purchased most of the options including the chrome EXT & INT. It was my belief that includes the chrome speaker grilles. Other than paying for the Package, this is how the car was made...including the rings. Definetly adds a nice touch

matty125 - what was your delivery date? Maybe this option has been changed, as those with newer deliveries (08 model??) don't seem to get the speaker trim rings in chrome.

 

I picked up my 08 MCS in February with the chrome line. It matches the description from the MINI configurator, but not the picture.

The description for that option states that it will "add chrome trim to the ***** and dials on the instrument panel, the air vents, the gear shift, and to the rear and front cup holders". Doesn't mention door speakers. However, the visual adds chrome to the speakers in the doors too.

Seems to be another case where the visual and the description don't quite add up (I-Pod interface being another - shown in the glovebox, but it doesn't actually show up that way, unless you pay an extra $350.00 - there's a thread on it somewhere in the electronics forum I think).

By the way, I love how the chrome line looks. The black color around the speakers matches the piano black trim.

I will be contacting my MA as well Miniclubman tomorrow to confirm. The one we on the lot that we looked at as we were ordering had full chromeline. We shall see!!

 

Yes, if my MA doesn't get back to me I may have to visit the showroom to do a little research on the floor models, to see what trim is included.

E-mailed MA on this issue...I will NOT be happy if Molly is Delivered without Chrome Rings around Door Speakers as I was shown a car with the rings at the time of ordering. I'll keep you posted.

 

No chrome around the speaker on mine either. 08 MCS with chrome interior, and brushed alloy. My fiance has an 07 MC chrome interior with piano black, she has chrome around the speakers. I'm not sure what her build date was but she took delivery in august. I'm glad you brought this issue up i never noticed this before.

standard system = chrome rings on the speakers

hi fi sound system (included with premium package on '08) = no chrome rings on the speakers

 

Build date 4/07 MCS w/ piano blk. & premium sound. Came with chrome rings around speakers.

 

...which is just about OPPOSITE of what you would expect!
