Perhaps.... just a wild guess here... but it's 13.2 Imperial Gallons. That equals 15.8 US Gallons. I know I've added 12.5 gallons when I had 2 petals left.

The US manual says 13.2 US gallons/50 liters for the MCS. However, it has the wrong number for the MC. So who knows?

I once ran really low on my gas and the RANGE read ---. At that time when I filled it up it was slightly over 14 gallons worth of gas. I wouldn't want to risk it to the point where I'd be filling up 15 gallons...that's almost 2 gallons over the tank's spec'd capacity.

Well with multiple folks stating they've filled up over the specified limit in the Manual... we can confirm that the manual is wrong. Now, the question is how much it actually holds?!

Just a thought, when posting range and mileage, we should also add with it if the car is a cooper or cooper S with 6 speed or auto. It does make a big difference and would be nice to compare like data.

I routinely ran my R53 down to the very last drop. I know i know, its bad...but oh well. I never ran out of gas and the range to empty never seemed to fail me. I got it down past '0 miles' numerous times. One time, with only one dash remaining of the '- - -' that comes after you pass 0. Whenever that happened, I'd always be able to fill it up with anywhere from 14.0 to 14.5 gallons. Always boggled me.

By the sounds of it though, I won't be able to trust my R56's gauge as much as my old one!

Wow, the three dashes decrease as you keep going!!??
I wonder if the R56 does that too?

I seriously doubt that the dashes from the '- - -' disappear as you keep driving.

Try it. Trust me, I got down to them almost every other tank.

'04 Manual states...
Fuel tank capacity:
Approx. 13.2 gallons / 50 liters, of which
approx. 2.1 gallons / 8 liters are reserve capacity.

So... is it possible to suggest there is a typo in the manual and conclude then that the MCS tank could actually hold 15.3 gals (13.2 + 2.1 reserve)

You have an R53 though...I don't doubt what you're saying is true, but I doubt that it is true for the R56.

I was down to 20 miles on my range yesterday when I filled up and put in 13.437 gallons.
