Hatch Vibrates in Car Wash Air Blast?

Last time I went to the car wash, a drive through touch free, the hatch looked like it was vibrating like heck when going under the air blast.

Is this normal?

Doesn't matter, don't go near a car wash touch free or otherwise

Yeah, they blast your car with 200mph wind, and 150psi spray jets, but it's "touch free". Under that definition, Hurricane Katrina was "touch-free".

Actually, I've been generally very pleased with the touch free car washes in my area, and find them very useful for the wintertime.

So, anyone who frequents carwashes notice the same effect?

Haven't noticed anything like that with the touchless car wash near me. Maybe it's an illusion.

I use a (cloth) car wash and it seems that their blower isn't quite that strong, because I have no noise and no problems.

There are a couple of threaded rubber grommets in the boot that adjust the fit of the hatch in the boot. Some had to thread them in as the boot was hard to close. You might need to thread it out a bit to get a more snug fit.

Thanks. When I push on it I don't get any visible movement, plus it's a little hard to lock once in a while. I don't know if it's got anything to do with anything, but the hinges look weak on it. In fact the whole hatch looks a lot less substantial than my old Beetle-can be 'twisted'. I'll just observe more closely next time. There was no harm done anyway (so far).
