When do the next year models usually arrive

I am not sure if I want to wait for a 2009 so I can get the new black or not. My lease on my current automobile is over in September. Also is it possible that the 2009 will have any interior differences. Specifically I really like the option of deleting the center speedometer and adding other gauges. I think this was called the chrono pack option or something in the prior model.

Are you certain? I thought the first '08 models became available in December, with most not arriving at North American dealers until January and February.

I purchased my '07 in October, and the 08s weren't even on the configurator here (Canada) until early February.

The first '08s were available for order in December 2007. They started production then and were delivered in early January of 2008.

My MA didn't have any solid info on this, but his unofficial guesstimate for '09 cars was that they would begin taking orders in August for delivery in September/early October.

That would work fine. I have a Miata for backup. I just need something else for next winter. Thanks

Not possible. The production of 2008 R56 models didn't begin till December. earliest he could have had it was late December or early Jan. For the 2007 model year, it was the same thing...production didn't start till December 2006. What your dealer had had to be a 2007 MC.

My dealership in VA told me that orders were being taken in Dec of 07 for 08 models, but they werent being produced until FEB. Not sure how this works if others are saying they're being made in December though.

Yea, that's definitely not possible. And I see the picture in your sig is a hardtop so I can't imagine he'd have shown you a convertible...

I picked up my '07 MCS in mid-October. Orders for '08s weren't even being taken yet, let alone one actually being on the dealer lot.

They take orders in late November if their allocation for 2007 models ran out. Anyway, the December production line Week 49 and onwards was 2008 models. If you were on the east coast and were on week 49 or so, you'd get your MINI in Jan. I ordered in late December and I got my 2008 model in late Jan.

yup i wanted to get an 08 when i picked up my other mini i had configured and waited for but was told i was going to have to wait until at least mid/late january. plus they had changed the packages so i wasnt going to be able to get all the options i wanted at the price of the 07, so ...i got an 07 in January which got me a better price and interest rate.

Just like the rest of the automotive world, the model year changeover is September 1st, unless there is a special exception [like the first of the R56's back in model year '07]

then why were multiple dealerships telling people that they couldnt take the order or that there was no way to get the car to them before the start of 08? weird i guess.

This was not true for the R56 both for the 2007 and 2008 model year.
