Hi guys, I know this topic has been beaten to death, with everyone agreeing that AB has a blue sheen b/c of the blue flakes in the paint, but is it really bluer than any other brand's metallic black? I'm considering ordering a clubman with AB/silver roof, and it would be great if it is truly a different color than our other car (acura, something like nightshade black).
Are there any dealerships near you? If so I'd suggest driving to it and seeing how blue it is for yourself. There's no photo that beats your own two eyes.
My dealer never seems to have any (very limited on hand stock). I have actually seen lots on the road, but they are always dirty so I can't tell. I suppose it doesn't really matter b/c I'll probably order it either way.
Astro Black is definitely on the blue-ish side. I happen to like it and it goes well with the Silver roof. Does not go well with the beige or red interiors ... the color is too cool for those warm hues.
And yes, Clubmans are only available with a body color, balck or SILVER roof.

My MINI is all Astro Black. It is hard to keep clean but when it is it's dazzling. The bluest hues show up best in direct sunlight. The rest of the time it looks mostly metallic black to me.
My friend and I just ordered a MINI coupe in Astro Black with a white roof and mirror yesterday. There was an S on the lot, and it was clean, and the weather was sunny. If you look closely, there is a slight hint of blue, but it is not overt. As an architect, I take color very seriously, and this is very subtle. It has so much more depth than jet black would, and the metallic luster shows off the curves so beautifully. You will not be disappointed.
Looks black, very dark grey, or extremely dark blue depending on the environment and how clean you keep it. I love the color, not as boring as plain ole 'jet' black
a cymk profile of it would. then he could replicate it in photoshop.. assuming your monitor and display profiles are correctly calibrated
I have to say this is the first time I've heard color profiles, CMYK and monitor calibration mentioned here!
Let's start a color temp and gamma thread.
