Hi everybody!

First time poster (after a few days of obsessive lurking) and hopefully proud owner of a new MCS08 in a few days. Here is my story:

The year was 1989. Gigette (MKIV) and I met in Italy. She was like no other: older but still beautiful, powerful and made me smile every time we were together. Despire fleeting car affairs in the following years, I never forgot her.

I still remember looking in my rearview mirror, through the cloud of fine dust and the look of surprise on the handsome boy driving a Porche as Gigette and I sped into the sunset... Good times!

When the MC were first introducted in the US (right after I bougt my new Cabrio) I knew that was going back to my first love, no matter how long it would take.

That day has come!!!

Yesterday, I went to my local Mini dealer with my heart set on a Cabrio but the cutest Pepper White MCS08 Hardtop (Premium/Sport/Winter PKGs) winked at me and as my heart started beating faster I was lost. I have not been able to stop thinking about Hopkirk (aka Kirky) since then.

My boyfriend thinks I have completely lost my wits and is insisting that we check some other dealers (and cars - fat chance) but I know... If everything goes as planned by Friday, Kirky and I will be together.

So, here I am - I have a long list of Mods already planned (which I am sure is going to evolve as I post here) and my heart is back where it belongs!

I had a similar buying experience. Had my eye on on a CR/W but then spied Shadowfax and something ethereal spoke to me. Must be something subliminal in those PWs!

I think you'll find your fond memories of Gigette will come rushing back in a big way once you're MINI-motoring again. The '08 MINI may be a thoroughly modern car, but under that civilized exterior is a car that truly does exactly what a car should do, and does it exceedingly well...that's what Minis are all about. There may be faster cars, there may be more practical cars...but for a MINI to do performance, economy, practicality, safety, comfort, AND (that illusive factor) fun?!?!?!.....that is a truly exceptional car!!!!! Happy Motoring!!!

I was so excited to find this forum and knowing that I was not alone in my obsession. We are in the middle of a snow blizzard today and I am heading back to the dealer tomorrow to get the paperwork done.

You betcha!!! It's funny...I got my first MINI in 1/03 and, frankly, have never had a boring drive since. MINIs make each moment behind the wheel fun!!!

 

No, but I stomped on the gas real hard and held on thight! what can I say, she likes it rough.
