How to Reset Onboard Computer?

I was scheduled to pick up my brand new MINI today, but my MA called to tell me that the OBC was not functioning correctly. He said that when he pushes the button on the end of the stalk, it doesn't switch the display.

Anyone know how to correct this issue or reset the OBC?

Not to worry, I'm sure the experts at the dealership will take care of it.

The only way I know of is to either disconnect power for a few minutes or unplug the ECU. However I wouldn't unplug the ECU without disconnecting the power.
Since it is at the dealer, they should have all the necessary equipment to take care of it. I would think the GT1 can do it.

Damn, tough break. Good to know your dealer is giving it a thorough check over though. Better they discover a small issue like this one, than you after delivery.

Yeah, do you think this is easily fixable? The SA there told my MA he'd never seen this issue before.

Have you seen your car on the lot ? Is it really there? The eternal dealer skeptic in me thinks of these things.

No I've not seen it, but I trust my MA and he did offer to let me pick it up and just come back later to fix it, but I'd rather not take delivery till they sort this issue out.

Seeing as there's no way to reset the OBC itself by pushing any buttons, I'm continuing this thread in the stock problems and issues thread here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...88#post2003688

If you're interesting in following it, please post there.

Konquest, have you had this problem before and tried the solution you posted? Why is it that the negative terminal needs to be disconnected?

All, it took the dealer 3 days to figure this out, but it wasn't the OBC at all. Turns out the button at the end of the stalk was bad.

Msteadman, took delivery this past Wednesday. MA came in on his day off to seal the deal. I'm a proud owner of a 2008 MCS MY/B.
