I think the bigger problem you will have is the bolt diameter. on the R56 the wheel bolt diameter is 14mm and the R50/R53 is 12mm. I don't know if the R50/R53 wheel holes are large enough to accomodate the 14mm bolts.

From what i've read on the factory wheels it's not as much of an issue as for aftermarket wheels...for the R53/R56 swap...not sure about R50

It's still going to be somewhat of an issue though. You'll likely need to get the 14mm to 12mm stud conversion kits that vendors here sell.

Driving with the TPMS disengaged gets mighty annoying as no data will stay in the top screen of the OBC display.

I don't believe so. There was a pic around here somewhere - the new TPMS wheels have a flat spot on either side of the valve stemp so the sensor can fit flush.

I think they have to be pressurized, as someone else stated. I put mine in the boot and reset the system with no luck. As soon as I drove off the light came back on.

Someone needs to design a little box that fits 4 sensors and can then be pressurized with compressed air and stored in the car for the MCS owners, or for the MC, just put all 4 inside the spare tire, and hope you don't need to drive on it. Does the spare have a sensor already?

From what I read above, on the '08s there is only a light and no beep? A light I can take, but beeping all winter when the snows are on would be very annoying. (We ordered our MINI yesterday!)

I get a light but NO beep. I don't think you'll have to worry about that.

Can you transfer sensors on an 08 without removing the wheel from the tire?

Thanks. I'm thinking that maybe the fellow got it mixed up with BMW, since they sell them there too.

Sensors

I'm someone will make an over-ride electronic device for use with all cars. Something that runs on a battery and outputs the signals the sensor wants to receive.

Wolfgang08- The sensors are inside the tires so you would have to remove the tires to get to them. I saved myself the hassle and bought them from Tire Rack via e-Bay ($190 for four sensors and valves). Putting new wheels and tires on and didn't want to pull apart the OEM ones.
