R56 Build sheet, please critique
Build sheet, please critique
Really, just thinking out loud. Could use some critical thinking. What's on the list that need not be, what's not on the list that should be. My own toss-ups:
Not sure about the 10-spkr hi-fi, heard it, not impressed
Not sure about the auto a/c option, looks nice, but not necessary
Not sure about the lighted sills, nice, but 3 hours labor too, not needed
Other than that, vague feelings about bonnet stripes? Other ideas?
Thanks!

We haven't ordered yet, but I was thinking the Hi Fi system might allow easier intergration of an aftermarket Nav system... maybe better access to the pre-amped L&R channels...
I agree with you on the lighted sills and the auto AC.

Deleted the sills today. Just saw the standards, they're fine, plus the 2-3 hours labor to install lighted sills, well, that's just not for me. So standard sills it may be!
Leaving everything else the same for now...I think!

I didn't see rear fog lights -- that is one thing that my MA didn't suggest (even after I showed her my build sheet) and it's a huge regret for me! You should get them! It will fill out the toggles on your dash and it's only $100.
+1 on anth hl and the chrome interior, also, you will get raped by the dealer for installation of some of those accessories U listed at the end. Get the mats and the valve cover caps and a window tint, and that's a nice car
Also, reconsider that WAY overpriced center armrest; I hate those things, plus, U can go to Target and buy an $8.99 15-cd jewel case that should perfectly between the seats and perform the same purpose.

Nice on the punch leather. It doesnt get a lot of play on this BB, but it really is my favorite of what is avail. What I really wanted was a black on black leather /cloth combo like the M3 had...

Highly recommend the anthracite headliner too. I have the chrome line interior and really like it but some have not liked the shininess when the sun hits it.
Also rear fogs! Full toggle panel for only $100 is worth it. Unless you plan to use the spot for driving lights.

I'd add the Anthracite Headliner, and Rear Fog Lights, but not the Chromeline Interior. That's a personal choice, but I don't like shiny things on the dash.
Rear fogs complete the look of the back, fill out a bank of toggle switches, and are useful to remind people not to tailgate. Oh, and useful in fog too.
Anthracite Headliner would look better than stock grey in an AB/W MINI.
Personally, I like the NAV. It integrates audio, Bluetooth, car settings, navigation, and looks much better than the pieplate speedo.

Not sure on chrome...if I want all that chrome in the cockpit. But I did go with the anthracite headliner on an updated build last night.
Armrest is part of the Conv Pkg, not an add-on, so I'm ok with that.
Can anyone post full hi res shots of the chrome interior vs standard on the S?
Corey - you have pics of the viper stripe?
Oh yeah, on the front-most section of the fender trim, amber light...who makes this in clear/tint?
Thanks.

Some great interior pics here... http://johncameron.ca/mini/
He's got the piano black but I think it will give you a good idea of what the chrome would look like in your Mini.

Eric,
Ask the dealer if they have any cars with "sports" stripes. They are the viper stripes. Just like a viper down the center of the bonnet to the bottom of the boot. Looks very sharp especially if the dealer installs them from the bottom of the bumper up and not just from the bonnet, just like a viper.

looks good! small point: make sure that the MINI valve stem caps are the new PLASTIC type, not the original METAL type. You can't use any type of metal valve stem cap on the aluminum TPMS stems. Others on this forum and elsewhere have had the caps seize on the valves, and the valves had to be destroyed to get the caps off! So, great look - but in PLASTIC!
