Just to clear up any misconceptions, a high-quality matte, satin, or semi-gloss paint job (like the Ferrari in post #21) is *nothing* like what you would get if you just shot primer onto a car, or simply applied a reduced-gloss single-stage paint with a spray can or a paint gun.
Good reduced-gloss finishes use the exact same color coat and clearcoat as a traditional paint job, and all the prep/detail work is exactly the same. The only difference is that a "flattening agent" is added to the final clearcoat to cut the gloss. You can even choose exactly how "flat" you want the finish to be by varying the amount of flattener you add to the clear.
You get the same smooth finish and clearcoat protection as a conventional paint job, just without the shine. (Also, you obviously can't wet-sand and polish the clearcoat after you're done painting it).
The only difference in caring for the paint is that you really can't polish out any paint defects, because you'll end up with a shiny spot. That was a problem with the matte-finish Ducati motorcycles someone mentioned earlier - it's common to get shiny spots on the rearmost portion of the tank where the rider's legs rubbed against the paint, effectively polishing it over time.

About how much is that for the whole car?
pl4ypl4y - Yes. Ferrari P4/5 by Pininferina.

YouTube search "Ferrari P4/5 Owner Exclusive Interview" and you'll see an interview with the owner.
burack - Wish I knew but I don't. I'm also sure the guy that did it for me has no idea.
simplekid15 - My guy charges $1500 for a full car wrap. Your results may vary.

Man, just when I thought that Rolls couldn't get any uglier...
I do like your matte MINI. On a similar line, I really dig non-metalic retro colors. The TT in Aviator Grey.
Also like the Laguna Seca blue that M3 came in. Harkens back to letting a cars lines speak for it instead of 3D deep metalic paint.

Does anyone know where else to get matte type of vinyl? The vehicle wrap places in my area seem to have no access to matte vinyl that is for vehicles..they say there will be "checkerboard like pattern" if u look close from 1-2 feet which i don't want...i want something smooth like Phantasms
Copper Rockster

Last year when riding season came around, I was strongly considering getting a copper Rockster. I ended up with a R1200RT instead, but I still can't get the rockster out of my mind. This picture is pretty crummy, but you get the idea. Doing a similar theme on a MINI would be pretty slick. I'm thinking flat black with copper wheels and accent stripes. Of course, I need to get my MINI first...
