Gotta love it....

you just gotta love that no matter where you go if you pass a Mini Cooper they will undoubtedly wave or flash lights or something. So cool. It makes you feel like your in some special club. So this goes out to all the Mini owners good job being cool!

Since I got my new Mini I've been waving or flashing my lights at other Mini's and all I get are dirty stares...

I haven't had anyone in a MINI wave back at me yet!
Just stares, or completely ignored, but I'm still gonna wave.

We walked out of a store today and a PW/B passed in front of us. As we walked to our car, it parked close to ours. The driver saw us watching and as I glanced over to ours and looked back, and we waved at each other.
On the other hand a MINI passed me the other day without even a look.
Go figure.

Thats so odd everyone except for one person here with a mini has waved slash flashed lights at me. It must be the country thing down here in NC.

Last two waves I got were from R56 owners. Nice to see owners of the latest model are keeping the wave alive. If course, it could be their second MINI (as is the case with me) but still...it's a good sign.

Perhaps many of the people who bought their MINI did so second hand and don't understand the culture.

Could be... But even so, I didn't learn most of what I know about the MINI culture from my MA and Otto's. So I don't see why buying second hand would taint the learning experience significantly.

Very nice! The clown wig is an especially nice touch.
See, waving or not, MINI drivers are the coolest out there.

I've been at an intersection where there are 3 MINIs wait for the light and none of the driver even turn a head to look. I guess it depends on where you live. Here in SoCal they are everywhere, so I guess people are in a "mine is better than your's" mode instead of a "hey look , another MINI".

I got some awesome waves from a school bus full of kids. They did the "truck driver please blow your horn" arm as i was passing them on the freeway and I laid on the horn for a full minute. The whole bus shifted as every one pilled up on the left side to see me. Kids were sticking their heads out the window, screaming, and waving. After I received the absolute dirtiest look from the driver, I was on my merry way. It felt good, all day i had a spring in my step. Keep waving.

Sorry to say, you're on a different planet from me. I live about 60 miles from Houston--close enough to see them fairly often, yet my home is in the country. Rarely get a wave.

Very disappointing as I'd heard all about the "secret club." And I'm old enough that I remember when ANY sports car driver waved to another. Then it was Porsches (we had/have a classic), then just about nothing.

I did have a funny one the other day, though. A car flashed and waved at me; I did the same. When we got closer it turned out to be a case of mistaken identity on both of our parts--it was a Scion. Oh, the shame...

Call me old fashioned (I am), but horns are for signalling--preferably before the crash. Might have made you feel good, but isn't too cool a thing to do just because some kids want it.

The reaction is different in each of my cars.

With my Mini, the one time I waved at someone, all I got was a confused stare.

With my Land Rover Discovery, I once waved at an older Ranger Rover, only to find out, those who drive Range Rovers, will not acknowledge that you exist.

With my Triumph Spitfire, I give and Get two handed waves if I ever see another one on the road.

I used to get loads of attention from other MINI drivers back in the midwest, but in CA I get nothing. Does not surprise me one bit..

Before I became a Mini owner, I'd yell "MINI!" whenever I saw one on the road. My family thought I was nuts, but slowly picked up the habit. Of course they didn't know I had ordered one.
I'd see at least one a day.

So I picked up my CR-MCS on 12/27. I've only seen 3 other Mini's since then and not one close enough to wave at or be waved at by...

But I still yell when I see one - even my own.

If you are driving next to me you are speeding and I don't like lawbreakers.

LOL!!! I have done that before, too. I think I quickly corrected and did that no-I-was-just-smoothing-my-hair-back thing. ha!!

I rarely get waves around Boston, as MINIs are a dime a dozen, and very few of them seem to be enthusiasts. On the highway however I've had my share of cat-and-mouse. My issue becomes when I'm at work on the ambulance I wave to MINIs and they just seem baffled (and vice-versa as there is an ambulance wave too)
