Delivery Time

I just placed on order for a Cooper S Hardtop. The dealer said it would take 8-12 weeks for delivery.

Does this sound about right? I am in San Diego.

Sounds a little optomisitic but go by what they're telling you. The time frame depends on the dealer's monthly quotas. They possibly had a January production quota available for you.

Congrats on your order !

It really depends on the dealer's allocation, how quickly your car goes into production once it's ordered and if there are any delays. Mine took almost 15 weeks.

Exactly. All of that plus you have to factor in the big variable of your location, and the smaller one of if you're having any accessories installed at the VDC or dealer.

Mine took exactly 4 weeks which seems to be about the minimum. I got really lucky though:

-My MINI went into production just 1 day after placing the order.
-Made it from the factory to the port in just 1.5 days after its completion.
-Spent just a few hours at the port - was loaded onto a ship the same day it arrived.
-Was off-loaded at the VDC in NY/NJ which is only a 8-9 day trip.
-Was released from the VDC in just 2.5 days.
-From the VDC to my dealer is less than 200 miles so it arrived there the evening of its release from the VDC.
-I had nothing installed at the dealer and my MA's scheduled was pretty free, so it sat at the dealer for just 2 days.
-And the real potential killer: My MINI incurred no damage during any part of said process.

Almost every single one of those factors has a huge range, so any one thing changing can delay the entire process.

Best of luck on your MINI's arrival. The wait is so worth it!

You can see how long it took me (West coast VDC, over the Rockies for delivery) in my signature. 8-12 weeks sounds a bit conservative, but not too far off the mark.

I believe its the extra distance the ship has to travel, ie Panama Canal.

Is there any extra delay b/c of the time of year? The dealer said something about Mini still shipping 2007's.

Are 2008's in production and being shipped now?
