So that's what they've been talking about ...

We finally had a our chance to get the new justacooper out on a bunch of open roads Sunday. What a blast !!! We went from highways, to back roads, over hill-and-dale (sorry about that Dale) and the car was an absolute dream to drive. The only down side was that I ended up having to negotiate with my wife to get her to trade-off and give up the wheel.

We just got the car last Thursday. So, this was our first real chance to experience what everyone's been talking about here. We expected fun. But the real driving beat the expectations. What a great way to spend a day ...

Peace !

Sounds like it was a very FUN day!! And - to curb the argument about who's going to drive it - maybe a 2nd MINI is in the stars for you.. Congrats!

What flavor's that coolaid ???
It's apparent now that the addiction sets in quickly.

Commuting has never been this fun! I caught myself turning off of the highway this morning, sooner than my normal exit. That way I could zip through a couple miles of twisty surface streets before I got to work.

As for sharing, my partner's name is on the title too. And, no, I haven't tried to hide her key (yet). She was just as excited as me to drive around and show the car off to everyone. But, now that I think of it, we'll probably only get another year or so out of our old Jeep. Then, we'll be needing something.

Yea - I'm in trouble ...

Peace !

We've got all the flavors...

I can very much relate to the "taking the long way" behavior. I thought it might go away after a bit, but it hasn't so far. I was excited about the money I thought I was going to save on gas. Though my mpg has more than doubled from my previous vehicle, I drive at least twice as much! Oh well. There's no price that can be put on the enjoyment of motoring!

Welcome, great you found out what everyone has been raving about.

How about some pictures and the details on your MC? I hope you have been taking some good pictures of your MINI in the twisties.

Enjoy and keep taking the side roads, they are fun.

I'll try to get some pictures that I can post into my profile, as soon as that Griot's order gets here. As for flavors, those Prima products do smell nice. Wait, do I have enough microfiber ? Now that I look at it, should the gap in those wheel wells be a-liiiittle tighter ? One of those shorty antenna's would be cool.

Yep - I'm in trouble ...

Peace !

Got mine earlier this week and already taking the long commute. My partner wanted to switch cars so he could transport a small bookcase. Why would I want to drive something that is not my MINI?????? So I followed him to work in my car, then drove to my work, doubling my commute AND my Motoring time. YAY! =-)

The shorties are sweet. I have to recommend CravenSpeed for that one. As you can see from my sig, they can engrave one for you. Plus, Kellen seems to be a real stand-up sort of guy.

This always amazes me! There aren't many car that can do this...fewer still in the price range of a Cooper. I think the level of driver interaction and feedback from the car is what drives us off the deep end...the car just gets in your head somehow!! Happy Motoring!!

Very true. I'm only 26 years old but I have driven for 10 years(automatic). Driving a manual transmission car right now is so fun. I'm even having fun in LA traffic. I'vr never loved a car before! But this car right now I LOVE!

Fun story, and yes, the driving couldn't get any better!!

Only problem I have with the POOM acronym, is that is doesn't put the MINI first! What about MOP "MINI Obsessed Person?"

I was serious about waiting on the Griot's order. It just got here this afternoon. But, I have gigs tonight and tomorrow. So, It's going to have to wait until Sunday to get the paint sealed and the shine back on.

You don't want to see any pictures of our car today. It's been raining all week and I've been commuting. Not the kind of first impression I'd like to post on a board like this. Don't worry - I did manage to get a coat of Meguire's on before we started driving (and before the rain). Now, I just have to get that off, get the sealer on, Mistique, Hydro, and I'm ready for my closeup Mr. DeMille ...

Peace !

If your area of Western Penn is Pittsburgh I bet it is a lot of fun. Some of those twisty roads in the north hills have got to be a blast

Sounds too much like "mope" which isn't right. Just think of POOM sounding like VOOM! Would you prefer to someone POOMing around or MOPing around?

I like it if you pronounce it with a soft "o" instead. Like the song...

"Mop, mop, mop, all day long!
Mop, mop, mop, while I sing this song!"

MOP-head. Yes, I like it.

OK - here's one for you ...

I've taken a couple of hits for not having any pix posted.
So, here's one that I snapped just before it got dark today (pardon the lighting).

Please notice all of the leaves that I should have been burning.
I opted to take the last bit of daylight to get a coat of sealer on the paint.
At least I have my priorities in order ...

Yea - I have about a 40 mile commute into Pittsburgh each morning. The North Hills are nice city drives. In general, there are a lot of fun MINI-roads all around Pennsylvania !

Peace !
