My radar detector rattles. Can't find the problem.

That's it!

Yes, I think so. I remember reading about a fix.

Rattle-free here....of course it helps that I'm absolutely deaf.

You sure it isn't the radar detector trying to alert you of cops?

Try buckling up your unused seat belts. I'll bet a lot of those rattles disappear.

I though I was rattle free, but now that the weather is cooler, I hear creaking sounds from from my dash and a rattle on bumpy roads coming from the center dash around the vent. When I press down on the center dash in front of the vent, the rattle goes away.

Should I stick felt in between the front dash edge and windshield?

Anyone interested? If you buy these unique rattles, I'll throw in the MINI for free. It's the ideal car, if you are deaf. It has more rattles than Babies R Us and the "Hifi" sounds like a $14 clock radio.
Even a MINI with creeky bones is still a good MINI...just strip the thing out, put in a rollcage, get yerself a set of sticky tires and go racing...
Problem solved.

I've been hearing hard pops, soft puffs and one hard SNAP after a pebble hit and slightly scuffed my windshield...I await the rattles

Hmm, I was seriously considering buying an MCS next week, but now i'm not so sure. I thought that BMW would make a quality car that was rattle free.

Don't buy this car if you expect perfection, at least in the normal sense of that word. It's more for DIY's and people who don't care otherwise, because it rattles, shakes, parts fall off, it's put together poorly and sometimes they forget to install all the parts, it doesn't have a jack or spare tire, warning lights go on all the time, wipers come on unexpectedly after you turn the car off, and people look at you all the time. On the other hand, it goes VERY FAST, rides like a go cart and will make you new friends. It's more than just a car. It's a relationship.

The main buzzing comes from my garage door opener I carry..... I will have to take it apart and add some tape or foam or something.

Thanks for the info. At least now I know what I'm getting into if I purchase this car. Let's hope the 2008 models are put together a little better.

Hey LynnEl,

I haven't spent much time on the R56 threads as I am a very happy rattle/complaint-free '06 MCS/JCW owner. That said, has the premium audio option changed since those offered as 2006 HK upgrades? Both my 2003 MCS and now my 2006 has the premium HK audio and I think they're awesome. IMO, it beats the premium audio I had in my previous Audi S4 and BMW 328. Certainly beats the premium audio in my wife's 2007 Saab 93 Aero (except for the Aero featuring XM).

If I have hard items lying inside the door junk bins, of course they rattle like hell, especially if the volume and base response is cranked up. But I don't carry loose rattlely junk in my door bins since day two of ownership. I'm guessing that you are not refering to any of your cargo as the culprits, though. Does the premium stereo in 2007's sound that bad? Sorry to hear it. Good luck!

Just under 5000 miles on my '07 MCS--not a rattle to be heard or problem light to be seen. Kermit is not only fun to drive, but so far very dependable!

a cold rattle..

I noticed a rattle when i got up early. it came from my dash.(now i only recognize a rattle when it's cold out..btw) anywho The rattle seamed to move around the cabin... from day to day. yesterday i found a tin of mints that got put by the passenger side floor (under dash). I shook it and that was the noise. I found it!!!!

today i found a new one.. this one was only noticeable driving on very rough pavement. seamed to be behind the huge spedo. go figure.

I have a very early production week, week 1 or so. if anybody has the answer to my rattle, or finds any similarities in early prod. weeks i will award that person with a beautiful bounty

Bounty - a tin of mints? I have the same rattle behind the speedo on rough roads. I'm taking my car in Monday to the dealer. I'll let you know if they come up with anything. Pressing my hand on the dash makes mine go away, so I'm tempted to stuff felt in between the dash and the windshield.
