R56 Looking for some Atlanta Dealership input
Looking for some Atlanta Dealership input
I have done a few searches and come up with threads from approx. 2004. but what are peoples recent experiences with Global Imports Mini and South Atlanta Mini? I am interested in both sales experience and service experience. I have visited both and have gotten an ok vibe from both but not a great vibe.
we got mellow yellow mini from south mini about two 2 weeks ago.
my wife wanted a basic mini with automatic. (it's very hard to find a basic mini unless you order it). it has only sports seat and fog light. we were very lucky because the car arrived in dealer within 5 days (only 4 miles on it).
we got a decent deal with amanda and jason.
I am very aggressive buyer

Had a pretty good experience with service at MOSA. The actual day when I took it in was better than expected. Had a loaner arranged and work was done ahead of schedule. Two minuses (mostly because I like 3 hours away) - reaching the service deparment can be difficult and the repair they did didn't last. They said it was it first time this particular repair had lasted and were very apologetic. Overall I'd give them a 4.6 out of 5.
ask about the fine print. The killer deals in SC... is immediately offset by the $999 dealer prep fee. Then add the $300-500 other fee (i cant remember what they call it).
They all have their own fees which are above and beyond MSRP (including dest fee). Global has a significant fee... mini of SA has less of a fee, but it's still there. If you buy off the lot, watch out for dealer additional items that cannot be removed (IE: pinstriping for $500). That's a great one. You have to ask specifically what the drive out cost is.

Drive the 100 miles to Century MINI in Greenville, SC - I did and it was well worth it. My MA was John Moore, great guy.
MSRP, no hidden fees, and no games.
Must be on cars on the lot... I ordered mine and there was no dealer prep fees, and no other "$300-$500" fee. I paid MSRP, tax, tag, and title.

How is sales tax handled if you buy out of state? I would love to pay less than the 8% fulton co. charges but I don't want to get hit twice.
Purchasing -- I have purchased from MoSA twice. The dealer "fee" charged by Global was one reason I went with MoSA. My Motoring Advisor was Amanda - she was extremely responsive to all questions and requests. She emailed pictures to me the moment Dusty arrived on their lot
She is a member of the "Steering Committee" of AtlantaMINIs, so her knowledge and enthusiasm for the MINI is exceptional.
Regarding service -- I live an hour away from MoSA, so I plan to have service done at Global. With my previous MINI, I had no problems with Lute as my Global Service Advisor. I did have a couple of post-delivery issues (scuffs on mirror cap and headlight) with Dusty, and Ray with MoSA took care of those perfectly.
Feel free to PM me with any questions.

How do you handle maintainance? Do you go back to SC or do you have it done in Atlanta?

You pay your local county sales tax. They send the tax collected to your local county tax office on your behalf. Just like buying local. No double tax.
We naturally bought our R56 in Greenville from John Moore also since we live in Greenville. Great bunch of people of there, we paid MSRP plus tax tag and title, no hidden fees. They even put a big ribbon and bow on the car since it was Ivy's birthday, they sang here happy birthday and even brought out a "cake". We have had great service from them and highly recommend them to everyone. It sounds like it may be worth ($$$) the drive for some of you.
ok. im close to buying.. i had what i wanted spect out.. went to global showed em my spec. said give me bottom line. they come back with 595 added to configurator price.. what i'll call fluff and mirrors.. so i say bottom line dont need this what can you do? come back -595.00.
i have not closed yet. but if i can get what i want at msrp that includes destination and handling of 650 as stated on configurator them i will probalby order this week.
btw.. in 98 i went round and round and round and round with global for a new m3.. sales guy kept calling me saying i think we can work something out. i'd go in, guy would give me song and dance why i couldna buy one for x and if i couldna afford x, maybe i needed a plain old 3 series.. had to laugh.. bought a fully loaded one (more stuff than i wanted) in augusta for my target price on a base model...
peristance, flexibility and patience...
we'll see how this goes...

if i can get what i want with haggling, thats good enough for me.
What does Global claim to do for the dealer prep fee?
According to Edmunds the invoice on a MCS is $19,162 while the MSRP was $21,200. That allows for $2038 in profit for the dealer minus overhead and expenses. When I bought my last Honda Civic 4 years ago the Honda dealer made about $600 based on the same calc. $2038 should be more than enough profit and prep. Plus they make a little on every thing you add.
How many other cars do you pay MSRP on? Especially when they have 35-40 unsold Minis on the lot (at Global anyway).
