engine tuner, builder

I am new to the mini world and I have decided to purchase one in the near future. I am not exactly sure what i want to do or how to go about doing it.
My idea was to buy one brand new and then send the motor out (probably not right away after all the suspension and cosmetics were done how ever long that would take a year or so)to an engine builder to have it built to around 280 to 300+ streetable HP.
My first question is is that posibble? Estimate cost for that? anyone now
of a shop that does this?
Should I get the S or normal considering the motor will be rebuilt and the
turbo probably changed out. I know it will need suspension work but would the stock mini Limited slip be enough? Also should I get the traction control?
Any insight on a build like this would be greatly appreciated.

Be patient and the mods will arrive. Nothing to get you up to that level is available yet.

Those are some serious mods...
If you are going to do anything with horsepower upgrades, the 'S' would be the most tunable....not sure about pumping 300HP..

Take a look at the JCW package, that would be a start...

280-300 hp--not likely to be very steetable. Cost will be very high as components in the drivetrain other than the engine will have to be upgraded to handle 100 more hp.

It would probably be cheaper to buy a Cayman or some other sports car.

I saw that minimania had a stage 4 kit and I htink it said 240 or 250 wheel horse power? or maybe that was the stage3 Im not sure. I was just wondering if the new turbo engine might be able to do the same I dont know i think it would be awsome for to have a mini that can walk all over 350z or car at that level. I know z's arent that fast but that is kind of my goal right now

Put down the game controller and research a car before buying. A MINI is not a straight-line car. It handles extremely well and gets good gas mileage while doing so.

Want to go fast in a straight line? Buy a mustang.

lol I am not looking for a straight line car, just a fun car, and I want to see ow much hp I can reasonably expect to get out of it because hp can make you fast in the corners to. I hate people that get their underwear all bunched up over nothing.

My underwear remains unbunched since I bought the correct size.

Its just that, a 350z and a MINI are two different classes and designs of cars.

Its like trying to get your Honda Accord to perform like a BMW M3. Sure, both are sedans, but the comparisons stop there.

is an interesting idea. ive been interested in the past with similar issues with Honda CRXs. a bit lighter. gonna guess.. but to get that hp on a street car running available pump gas, you'll need at least 2 liters, a very nice turbo and a built block. question is how tuff is the mini block, can it be built out... probably cost around 12k to build the block.. and then no guarantees.

next engine control.. gonna have to get into the ECU and program it or go with a standalone..... as far as i know no one has yet worked with the the current mini to allow that kind of power mods, and you're talking about direct injection...

then you have your drive train.. question is will it hold up?

and finally, like all front drive cars, at some point its all torque stear, wheel spin and wheel hop.

the idea is cool, but i would go some other route (different car). for the money you will spend, you could easily by a vette. current vettes have 436hp and weigh just a tad over 3000lbs.. and lots of mods available.. but it aint a small agile car like the mini....

or mabye even a turbo miata... at least you have 2 liters to start with and rear wheel drive...

ok so reasonble hp is in the low 200's? I stated in my original post i wasnt sure what i wanted that was just a starting point. I really like the mini and want something a little different. I dont want to spend 50,000 dollars to do it though. there are 250+ hp supercharged minis arent there? or are those all inflated numbers?

Nobody has a kit like that for the R56 yet. Any kits you are seeing at places like MINI Mania are for the older R50/R53's.

The folks at alta believe they are well on the way to 250 bhp for the R56.

Suggestion

My two cents: Go buy a ford focus and drive that for 3 years then buy a MCS and you'll feel like you're driving the fastest car on Earth. At least that's how it panned out for me lol.
