R56 All Aboard The MEDEA!!
All Aboard The MEDEA!!
Just thought I'd start a common thread for those folks who's MINIs are traveling West on the WW ship MEDEA. Of which I am one!
It appears that we have both week 33 and week 34 production MINIs aboard the ship. And, according to the booking number, there are 201 MINIs in total slated to be aboard.
Please feel free to post any updates on the ships progress in this thread. The ship is scheduled to leave Southampton on Monday 8/27 (which would really be closer to Sunday 8/26 for us West coast folks since they are 8 hours ahead of us) and arrive in Port Hueneme on 9/17.

I am on the MEDEA as well. Just a few more weeks and it will at least be here in the states. I'm sure this has been asked a million times but how long after it reaches port does it take to get to the dealer?
The answer is too long..
Seriously, unless you have other options that needed to be installed such as the JCW aero kit, you MINI should be at your dealer in a week or so from what I've read. Of course, if you have dealer installed option expect a few more delays added. So many delays...lol

man, all this waiting is killing me. but at least i know when the boat will arrive...so i can wait some more lol. as far as i know all my options were installed at the factory so hopefully it gets to the dealer quiuckly
Well, I'm bummed. I had high hopes for making the Medea on 8/27, given my Mini was completed on 8/24, but I think I missed the boat, since the WW site doesn't recognize my VIN, and ASKMINI still says 'released to carrier for transportation to port'. :impatient WW doesn't have another ship to Port Hueneme for another week. Hope another carrier picks my car up before then - not sure how to detect or track that if it happens - guess I better go back and research the enormous 'How To Track Your Mini' thread.
Have a nice voyage everyone.

You can find the Port Hueneme arrivial schedule at the link below, that will show the names of the ships carrying BMW/Mini cargo. By checking that you can see if they sneak another ship in other than the usual WW lines. Well it does happen on rare occasions that they use another carrier, most likely you will be on a WW ship. Sorry for the long wait for a ship, I waited over a week and it sucks for sure.

Also, this gave me a little hope that I might actually have made the Medea:
Seeing at it was supposed to leave Southampton on the 27th, I'd say that more than likely it was loaded before today.
The WW site shows that my MCS was loaded today as well (28/08/2007 12:52). I think it's off a bit though.

Hi All,
Well, it looks like we should be going through the Panama Canal today or tomorrow since the WW website shows that we went through MANZANILLO Panama yesterday (the 6th), and since it generally takes around 9 days to get from the canal up to Port Hueneme and we're scheduled to arrive on the 17th.

Edit:
Nevermind - Tharkun set me straight on this. Apparently there's a city and a terminal with the same name, but on opposite sides:

MEDEA @ MIRAFLORES LOCK
By the time Medea started the last of the trek thru the canal it was dark, so no pics of here passing the expansion porject/centennial bridge cams. DId get
some pics of her going thru the Miraflores lock, which is the last lock before entering the Pacific.

Fellow Medea travelers... It looks like the Medea's arrival into Port Hueneme has been bumped up by one day. It was scheduled to arrive on 9/17, but according to the WW web site, it will now roll into Port Hueneme on 9/16 instead.
Very nice!
