Emergency Response MINI

Finally finished installing lights and switches into the Mini (see my signature).

I'm going to install one more above the rear view mirror (that's what the first switch is for).
If I could fit a siren speaker under the hood, I'd get that in there too

Although its technically my fiance's car, I get to drive it occasionally.

Videos are on the way, waiting for approval from putfile.

(They may not work yet- I think they have to be approved first.)

I'll get more close up photos posted tomorrow.

Nice fire engine! Should get you there quickly.

I get a "playlist format not recognized" for the vids. I assume they just aren't approved yet. Or, could be my Mac doesn't recognize the format.

Ah, yes.. finally, someone found a use for the armrest storage area for something other than a cell phone or a pair of glasses. Not much else fits in there..

Like the all red - she looks great.

Nice job!

You should post this in the thread where MINI owners are complaining about tailgaters / not getting respect on the road. It's probably highly illegal to do this mod for them, but this'd sure help 'em out a LOT!

Very nicely done. I am a first responder (hazmat incident commander) and I wish I had these!
Just looking at the videos and pics, you are broadcasting clear front and back, but not from either side. Still got stealth mode going there. Keep that in mind at intersections.
Stay safe!

Sweet !
Always wanted something like it back in Germany when I was with the voluntary fire department.
But you could never get it approved under German law. Not even our Chief was able to get one on his private ride :(

Thanks for all the compliments! I didn't want to overdo it, especially since these lights won't get used too much, but if I need them, I at least have something. I'll keep looking for space for a siren speaker under the hood

Great ride ksneubec and I love the lights!
But do you think people will actually get out of the way for such a small car?

Nice lights. Our local FireChief would like this setup. Did I understand correctly, this is your GF's MINI? If so, don't let her go.

The videos worked fine for me, but I did note the association Videos which came up were for RIO Beach Girl's live. Hummmm, how is that related to FR lights in a MINI.

Must be a sexy MINI.

The ride to the firehouse is pretty short from my house, so even if people don't pull over for me its not the end of the world. With a small light mounted up by the rear view mirror (the last phase, still deciding on which light to buy), I think most people will see me. Its hard to tell by the video but those lights in front are exceptionally bright, I would never have a problem being seen as soon as the sun starts to set.

And yes, its the FIANCE's Mini (Not girlfriend, apparently this is a big distinction ). And yes, I am very lucky to have her. Although she was very clear about not having any lights mounted in a visible spot, no obvious switches, no visible wires, etc. It was a challenge, but it was fun .

Here's my normal ride: http://www.elightbars.org/bb/2004-to...7-vt19646.html The most recent photos/video is at the bottom of the first page. The front bumper lights should look familar- they are the lights that are now on the back of the Mini. The light I bought for the back of the mini was too big so that ended up on the front of my truck, I just don't have new photos posted yet (tomorrow).

Are you kidding!!! If CT is anything like CA, they don't get out of your way with an Engine or an ambulance let alone a mini!!!

The emergency lights are pretty interesting, but I was first taken by how sharp your little red auto is. The videos are very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I think the chrome mirrors set it off nicely. Not normally a big fan of chrome on the outside, but it does look good here.

good luck not getting whacked

You should find a way to cram a federal Q into that... then no one will miss you! Working on an ambulance I find that the lights/ sirens/ big white + red striped-truck-screaming-down-the-street just makes it invisible
YOU GOTTA MAKE SOME NOISE!!!

It so rarely gets used for responses that I never bothered to try to fit a speaker in there. Good luck though, from what I can remember seeing there wasn't really much room at all. Maybe one of the skinnier speakers like a dynamax might fit somewhere. Your idea about a custom bracket will likely be necessary.

Nice work Karl, if our city council keeps slashing our budget, we may have to look into a setup like this for our command vehicles.
+1 for the federal...
