Recall Service Question

Hi-
I brought our Mini in for a door handle that wasn't functioning, and I was told by the service adviser there is a "recall" on some component of the car. They didn't have the parts in stock, but here is what they ordered. He didn't really have much info on it other than it was something to do with the CD changer (and we don't have a CD changer in the car).

SIM#51-04-07 LBL 30 REPL CD CHANGER CAR

This is a 2007 cooper s auto, delivered in late may.

Any ideas? The order looks like a bunch of trim parts.

See Images... I just scanned the invoice

Looks like the fix kit for the secret compartment above the glove box.

That's strange, because our "secret compartment" opens fine. My wife keeps her CDs in there.

Take whatever they give you, then let them reorder the correct items to fix your problems.

I'm a firm believer in "If it ain't broke don't fix it" and this thing seems cosmetic.

They did fix the issue I brought it in for the first time around (and did a good job at it).

Anyway, guess I'll make an appointment and post back what the results are.

It's not because it doesn't open, it's to fix the infamous "secret compartment rattle".

anyone know what the $10 charge is for for the ipod storage box that brecht mini is charging for in this link:

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...egoryID=102603

if this is for the secret glove compartment, i thought this automatically came with the mini...

UPDATE: Crevier made a small error. The parts are for the non-opening secret storage box. What happened was, Mini issued the change as a service advisory, and so Crevier attached this service to all their Mini's coming in. I guess mine was one of the first with the storage box working right, and they forgot to remove the advisory from the VIN.

So bottom line, didn't need the parts, and second, for those of you who don't have the box that opens, seems Mini is doing this free of charge through dealer service.

Good luck

Just had the "recall" done. It is the secret compartment. this is to make it operational. If yours already works, recall not needed.

Now that I have it, I don't know how I got along without it.

I just got my car back today with this recall done. Looking at it it seems to be a fair amount of money for the parts (I have the brushed aluminum trim). It was covered as a recall and no charge and is nice to have the compartment opened.

Last week my wife had her car in and they retro fit the compartment for her MC (piano black trim).

Secret recall for the secret compartment?

My compartment doesn't open and I haven't been on here for quite awhile -- shows you that dropping by here is well worth it!!
Did MINI send notices out on this recall? I never got one.
