Where to put the beasts?

Best place to put a 50 lb. poodle? Boot, back seat, or with seats folded down. Also...best item to buy for pet protection. No shedding thank goodness! Thanks for any ideas.

I'd say in the boot with the seats folded down, that is where our two 70lb lab mixes ride.

Did you buy the boot cover that starts at the back seats?

Try the Kurgo Online Store. They make safe travel items for pet owners who take their pets along on trips. www.motivation-design.com/kurgo/dealers/kurgo_store.htm They have harnesses, safety belts for dogs, ---all kinds of neat stuff to protect your pet while you drive. They carry a shieldto keep Fido from jumping to the front while you are driving, and they also have a cable and harness which attach to the oh crap handles, so fido can move sideways yet not go forwards if you stop suddenly.

My dog loves the back of the car with the seats folded down. I went to Big Lots and bought a large pillow that almost covers the rear portion of my MINI.

I didn't no. If there is a chance of them having wet feet I'd just lay down some towels.

Forget the Mini - just get an old military motorcycle from the eastern block and a doggie-helmet/goggle set FTW

Where would you attach a harness in the boot, if the seats are down?

The Kurgo page has pics. The harness attaches 2 different ways: 1] to the regular seatbelts if the seats are not folded down, or, 2] to the cable that attaches to the "oh crap" handles on each side of the rear seating area. you can then adjust the harness accordingly so Fido doesn't fly forward if you stop suddenly, OR if you just do not want him coming up front as you travel.

You could also attach the harness to the seatback latches/brackets which are exposed when the seatbacks are down. It would just clip/snap in.

Yes, Saw the Kurgo pictures. Thank You! (Great goggle picture. I put it on my screen saver.)
My pup is a service dog, so she is a constant passenger...planes, trains, boats and mini's. Probably easier to get her loaded into the boot, than the rear seat on a regular basis.

My two Mini-poopers (miniature Poodles) find it earier to get in thru the trunk as well. I just fold the seats down as the back material gives them good purchase and they tend not to slide around. They also like being able to look out the side windows.

We have a pit bull, a dachshund and a beagle. They will not go in the MINI.

Awesome color on that MINI! Is that custom, or was that an option in '03?

Oh, and cute mini-poopers too!

Like I stated earlier, my dog usually is content to stay in the boot on that large cushion I bought him. It has a vinyl bottom side and a washable corduroy seat and cost $20. The color also goes well with my MINIs. It goes from side to side on the folded-down seats and extends all the way back to where the boot shelf begins. My problem is that he loves to jump up front to "visit" while I'm driving, so that's why I got the cable and harness. Now, he can go from side to side and still be safe if I need to stop suddenly, as the attached harness will keep him from flying forward.

Well, since he's got that tee shirt, it made perfect sence to get the matching MINI.

My F-i-L had a leather seat cover for his 5 series that was I think offical BMW for his 90 pound pitbull/Staff/Dogge/whatever mix.
It looked at little like a hammock , being afixed over the front seat headrests and over the backseat headrests.
The backside of the front seats were protected as well as the backseat plus the backseat headrests.
It also had side panels (able to being opened), protecting the backseat door panels.
It might not really work for a MINI, because the Bimmer was a 4 door but you might wanna check with a (BMW) dealer.
I wasn't able to find it on the web though.

A lot of people are adding a ClearBra-type bumper protector. This might be the best idea, and I sorta wish I had taken that route when I did my MINIs, as it is almost indestructible. I have the chrome protector from Moss Motors on my MC, Chrome DOES scratch but it was worth the money and looks pretty good yet, after being on for the last 3 yrs. I also have Out Motoring's heavy-duty vinyled shelf-paper-styled one on my MCS. It is NOT worth the $40 and is already torn by my overly-excited dog as he bounded into the boot for a riiiiide the other day.

Thanks for the comments, I hadn't seen an apricot standard Poodoo before.......

My car is Electric blue, for some reason the light was a little strange that day, check out my Gallery for the real color.......

I hadn't thought about a bumper protector to keep their nails from scratching it as they get in and out. Seems like Clearbra would work.....

Here's my car in regular light, this is the real color..........
