R56 Service Bulletin for noisy clutch problem?
Service Bulletin for noisy clutch problem?
Does anyone know if a service bulletin was issued for the clutch/gearbox noise when going from third to second? My car is going in again tomorrow for this problem. It was 'fixed' last month by fitting a new clutch.
I think a bullein was issued, but I don't know the bulletin # or how to find it. I took my car in about 3 weeks ago for the grinding noise from 1st to 2nd (only happens when I first start driving - until the car warms up).
SA mentioned that there was a bulletin issued about this issue. The 'invoice' I got back when I picked up my car stated that the "bulletin test plan was performed for inspection of defective trans/clutch assembly," but that everything was in spec, so nothing was done except a software upgrade of some sort. SA told me that the noise would go away once my trans was fully broken in - 2-3000 miles...

My car is at the shop now getting a new trans and clutch. 2100 miles, 12/06 build date, squeeling when shifting from 3 to 2 (when fully warmed only).
If I see any tsb reference on the invoice I'll let you know.

You can usually get them from Alldata.com, but they don't have MINI or BMW listed as contributing manufacturers. Your local Autozone is tied into Alldata so you can go look at the information there. Maybe the BMW/MINI information has limited access that the store can get to...
You can also ask your dealer to show you the TSB. There is no good reason for them to refuse.
The following website provides them for subscribers, but lists only 3 TSBs for MINI. None relate to the 07s.

My car is going in tomorrow.. 8585 miles, third clutch/flywheel issue - the typical third to second gear groaning on warm shifts - I've had two clutch/flywheel replacements so far. I'll keep everyone posted. I'm not happy.
Where's that nutjob "Motormouth" to save the day and defend MINI's reputation for building perfect cars?
You shouldn't have to address the same issue 3 times to correct a problem.
And so I'll wait for my purchase until I know this issue is corrected.

I've had good service so far, but of course they haven't fixed the problem. They always give me a loaner for the time the car is in, so from the perspective I can't really complain...Is this the first new clutch for you?
It has Mini and BMW just nothing for 2007. The manufacturer will only be listed if there is a TSB out for them in that year.
