Another MCS ordered

Hi folks, I've commented here a few times but my wife and I just ordered our Mini Cooper S last night in the Denver area. We aren't getting many options, but agonized over the ones we chose. Julie couldn't make up her mind on sunroof or not until we were at the dealer last night (third time there) So:
British Racing Green -I don't care if it's not a popular color, it's the color Britsh cars should be. I'm also kinda thinking it might be a popular color again by the time we're ready to sell the car many many years from now.
White roof/mirrors
Bridge spoke wheels (will be used for snow tires)
xenon headlights
leatherette interior
Piano black trim
LSD
Sport suspension

Question, for folks who had a clear bra applied by an aftermarket company, was the material wide enough to go up past the headlights? On a few cars on the lot I noticed the material seemed way wider than the 12 inches the previous guy said was the only width when he did our WRX.

I was also given a little matchbox sized Mini in the appropriate color to stare at all day for the next two months or so. Turns out BMW/Mini doesn't sell any models in Green (except for a convertible). One of the dealership folks bought up a bunch she found at a local toy store and gave me one of those for free!

I'd really like to thank everyone on the pluses and minus of the sunroof and ipod adapter. As soon as I read about the ipod aux holder with the flexible arm we went out and bought two of those. As for the sunroof, having two cars with metal sunroofs in Colorado, I find I almost never open them as the sun bakes the top of my head.

I'm getting rid of a very old Jetta, but keeping my Corrado as our extra car.

Cheers,
John

I have an 07 MC in BRG w/white. Great color choice!! I also found a BRG with white roof model about 14 inches long (1/24 scale I think) for 9.95!! Alas, it was a R50. but close enough.

oh

The model I got is definately an R50 Mini Cooper - no hood scoop and I can tell the grill opening is smaller.

Nice BRG is great.

Yes, I imagine R56 models are few and far between. I suspect you can find one if you look online in the UK/EU.

Congrats on the BRG/W combo, classic and very nice. Good options, simple and probably a good resale many, many years down the road.

My clearbra done by a local independant was wider than 12 inches, so it covers very nice. It depends on the installer and the material being used. The compound curves in the lower bumper are hard to cover, but enough is covered to provide the needed protection. I managed to save about $250. by going independant versus the dealer.

Good luck with your new MINI, enjoy and watch it being built and shipped with your new friends on NAM.

Check out the 5280 group, they have some good events.

If you have bonet stripes the clear bra does no seal when it overlaps and dirt and water run in. You cant get it out, looks like crap.

CONGRATS!!!

Sounds like a beautiful car to look forward to.

What helped the wife make her decision about the sunroof?

Welcome to our little waiting game party. There seems to be many of us sharing this experience.

Also in waiting here. Mine is in the Paint Shop part of production today, per my phone call to 1-866-ask-mini. Friday the 13th and paint? It went into production 07-07-07 and there's suppose to be something lucky about that. Lets hope the first cancels out the second if need be.

The biggest problem is the glass isn't that tinted. Even though yesterday was really overcast, a lot of light came through even though the glass looks completely black on the outside. I read about others here having window tinting film applied to the inside, but that seems like a lot of effort to fix something we're not sure we can enjoy that much when open in the Colorado sun. I guess it really don't make sense I was previously considering a Honda S2000. When the heck would I have put the top down if I have problems with the sun coming through a sunroof?

That sounds perfect. I too love the green and white combo. Your option list matches my dream list. Maybe someday I will get mine ordered.

Congrats. BRG is good, and you don't need all that extra weight in the roof as well as potential roof leaks. Solid roofs are good.
